What the hell did he buy? I've spent a couple hundred less then him on my setup so far and it's far better with more features then yours (I haven't gotten to buying a second set of speakers for the reciever yet so I'm currently using my Klipsch 4.1 with it). And only a mere 225 watts for all the speakers? That's probably fine for you but it would hardly rock my shorts on a normal day.

  2. like i said im in a small bed room i have no need for 600 watts to blast out of my system

225 whats does fine for my room
    Where I play

  3. Home audio is all about diminished returns. The more money you spend on something the less difference you're going to hear for that extra money. But for systems this cheap that extra dough goes a long way, which is why i suggested a slightly over-budget $300 set, the Logitech Z680s.

  4. hey hey c'mon take it easy y'all. I asked for something among that $200 price range and shin johnpv gave me a good opinion on a good setup. I'm seriously thinking of getting that, as soon as I finished getting some art supplies(expensive art supplies) for my advance 2d design art class.

I'm still a high school student, should I start saving up for a uber 1337 system when I could be spending it toward something like.... a car?

Really though, I appreciated the recommendations, but theres no need to get rowdy up in ch'here.

Heh, I just calculated that I've spent over $1,200 on my setup (yes, in a bedroom), not including TV, rear speakers, videogames, or cables. But then again, I'm a little obsessive about my sound system, and I don't have to spend money on anything (no payments at all for anything yet). Otherwise, I'd be in your position. I think the best buy would be the Kenwood system, as I've heard praise from many many people for it. But if you choose the Go! one, I'm sure that you will be satisfied. If you want some reassurance, try to get it from a store that has a decent return policy. You may end up spending a little more, but exchanges will be a lot easier.

  6. i have $1500 in just a stereo set up as well.

    $500 Yamaha reciever
    $1000 B&W 603 S2s

and they are back in Boston while i am in LA. I miss them

That's what I, you, and others already said. Shame that doesn't alter the point that was made in the slightest. We know that's a fine system for really cheap and I don't see anyone here disagreeing, but you're arguing a point that has absolutely nothing to do with your room.

Again, your recommendation was fine and spot-on for price, we're not challenging you there.

  8. I have a Magnavox MRD-200, for my 12x11 bedroom its good. 175watts of power is more than I need ... Serious. I'm more of a overall sound man myself. i know I could go for a more powerful sys, but then I wouldn't stop hearing it from my neighbors(btw: I live in a townhouse). The only prob I see with it is, like the car speakers ... the stock suck ... well for my sys its not the speakers ... its the WIRES! So, for all ... if you want the best sound possible ... get your own speaker wires.

  9. Ok for now I have decided to get a new TV instead, but I WILL get the sound system once I get the money again. SO what is a recommended 27" TV for around that same price range? $200ish. I no I won't get any progressive scan hdtv zimzam flat screen, 10 component input TV(component input wuld be nice though ). Thanx for taking the time to help a brother out y'all.
