Thread: If You Were Nintendo

  1. You're right, but marketting to tell people of these awesome games would also be beneficial to their cause. (and they're spending money on them anyway, why not do them right?)

I never said anything about lying to the consumer. I just said that they could use a new marketting team.

  2. Nintendo needs to go third-party, or second-party for Microsoft. They need to stop being cutesy and start playing hardball. Less creativity and more shovelware. (They are doing a good job with the SNES --> GBA, though.) Ports of N64 titles to Gamecube (like they did with Zelda 64) wouldn't hurt, either.

I would lower, or eliminate, the license fee on the GBA and prep a Sony-beating new Gameboy. The lack of franchise fees would keep people making games for the GBA over the SP, and initial failure of the SP will keep it down.
    No gnus is good gnus.

  3. Do you mean PSP?

  4. SP and failure don't belong in the same sentence. The GBA/SP has been outselling the PS2 since the SP was introduced.

you do know that the only game that requires 4 GBA's is Four Swords, and that's not even out yet.

i'm hoping this is sarcasm, but i can't really tell...

so far 204,538. came out yesterday so i'd say it's off to a good start.

  8. Neglected franchises:
Hire Sega AM2 to make a Hogan's Alley sequel- but instead of using cardboard spin-targets, make it somewhat like a 128-bit Gangster Town/Virtua Cop combined with cel-shading.

Join with Namco to make a new Mach Rider. The original game is nothing spectacular, but a sequel could be great with the right refinements in play control, weaponry, power-ups etc. An occasional tube level like in STUN Runner wouldn't be a bad idea. Add online link play for 2 players.

    Games in Development:
StarFox GC- Tell Namco to go back to the drawing board. That one needs help.

    Existing:
Mario - Make a new Super Mario World title using a Klonoa style engine. Consider making this the final Mario game.

Pokemon- Can it. I think we've seen about enough of this one.

Punch-Out- A compilation with both arcade versions of Punch-Out, NES Punch Out, SNES Super Punch-Out, and an all new version. Team up with Namco and work on a mocap version of the new Punch-Out for the Triforce arcade system. Implement blocking- an important thing which Konami's Mocap Boxing so conveniently forgot.

    Other stuff:
Create new franchises to replace Mario and Pokemon.

Start a Nintendo Museum series featuring Nintendo arcade titles. The first one would have all 3 Donkey Kongs, HeliFire, Sheriff (Bandido), Radar Scope, Mario Bros., Sky Skipper, and Vs. Super Mario Bros. (not the NES cart).

    Marketing:
Make some new commercials with a hilarious gag that can be remembered easily. Don't do anything like the Yoshi's Island commercial- that one was nothing but gross. Hire the team who made the old "SEGA!" commercials.

    New System:
Make it backward compatible with the GameCube and raise the amount of RAM to 128 MB. Cut license fees on games.

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)

just so you know, we've yet to see the one player mode in the game. remember, that before the game unveiled, Nintendo announced that all they would be showing was the multiplayer mode. although yeah, the multiplayer mode was shit, and had jokingly bad controls to go along with it.

  10. Pokemon- Can it. I think we've seen about enough of this one.
They still need to make the MMRPG. Rework the combat engine to mimick the dynamic fighting of the cartoon. Where the trainers just stand on the side shouting commands and the pokemon fight continuously throughout, instead of taking turns. They could adopt the interface of the super famicom yu yu hakusho games which allows you to choose from a variety of maneuvers quickly without letting the opponent know what you're using. The only problem with it is that you have to memorize what button corresponds to what instead of picking from a menu. But that only means that the trainers would have to have a better understanding of their pokemon in battle . It seems to work well with the type of game it is.

Have it come out near the launch of the next console and make it compatible with the new versions of pokemon that will be made for the new Super Gameboy Advance handheld and use it to launch Nintendo's new online plan. Sure.
