Sega has announced that they will shut down the online servers for the Dreamcast version of Phantasy Star Online at midnight on September 30. The PSO message boards will close down 24 hours later, on October 1.
People who have already paid in advance for a Hunter's License will get a time extension and recieve credit for the remaining time around November 1.

still, I had a great time while it lasted. Why don't they just send their servers over to gamespy or something?

I could've sworn that I had heard about a complete homebrew server that would be released once this happened. Who knows?
