Thread: Dreamcast Phantasy Star Online servers shutting down

  1. It was a fun time, a great ride. What else could you ask for?

One thing that rises to question from this - the issue of an online game's 'lifespan.' PSO was all about playing online, and you don't get the full 'feel' playing off. If online games are to be the fabled 'next step in gaming evolution' developers have to make a game that can be just as good online or off. I'd hate to think newer generations of games will have a shelf life, when Tetris Attack is as good today as it was when it released.

I think Alien Front Online is a perfect example of this problem. The game lacked any redeeming values outside of online play, so now that the servers are down, it's not worth more than $1.

  6. Good times for me were had there.

    Life goes on tho.....
