that'll be $25 please
I just recently got a new computer. Everything is working great, no problems, except for one thing. There are these damn pop up ads that appear every few minutes. they are not internet pop ups but a pop up that is from the messanger service. Ironicly, they are ads for pop ups, the same pop ups that are coming up. So I will have o pay 25 dollars to to stop ads that these companies are sending me. Of course i dont want to pay that. Does anyone know how to stop them?

Messenger ads don't have anything to do with the browser, but given the hell that IE is putting my department through in rolling out a new software application from a third-party vendor who is essentially using us as guinea pigs, I have to agree with Shidoshi.
Get Mozilla, MozillaFirebird, Netscape, Camino, Safari or Opera and avoid the mess that IE is and will become.
As to the Messenger crap, go into Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and stop/disable the Messenger service. Also block port 135 on your firewall. It uses 135 to communicate and spam those notices, so block that post haste. This is also the port that Blaster and some other RPC worms communicate on, so if you don't have that blocked, you're asking for trouble.
