Yeah... thanks for moving this where no one will ever see it.
Very cool.
Last time I posted songs you guys left the topic in Sound Off for a week before moving it... so people could actually see it.

Not as fancy as Protools (ours is based on a Roland 2480), but it gets the job done. What do you monitor your mixes on?
Oh, and pick up some Oktava MC012's. They are the most useful $100 mics you will ever stumble accross for anything accoustic (guitars, drum overheads, woodwinds, etc.) They are life savers I tell ya.
My band was just playing around in my mini studio on Wednesday recording a new demo song. We didn't mic a drum kit since I'm sloooooow at placing drum mics (6+ hours slow), so we used an electronic kit + real cymbals and just threw some overheads up. 7 hours later, we had a demo song (At the cost of a really fake snare sound, but whatever). A home studio is a great thing. A link if anybody wants to hear Wednesday's effort. The song is called "Waiting", but the MP3 is named save8_29_03 (or whatever the date I mixed it was):

Let's hear 'em anyway! Just put up the "not representative" disclaimer.Originally Posted by 88mph
Click on that website thingy in my sig... they should be back up.
I spent almost a full day on getting a guitar sound... we used a beta 52, and a sm-57... odd? Yes.Originally Posted by Chibi Nappa
The beta 52 for some reason picked up a lot of highs and mids... and makes the guitar sound really ballsy.
We should have rough mixes of our stuff up w/in a week or so... I'll put that up as soon as I can.
Certainly gives a unique sound. Almost sounds like there is a clean electric in there somewhere. Very cool.Originally Posted by 88mph
Speaking of micing guitar sounds, we did one track with an accoustic where we close mic'ed, plugged in direct, and used a room mic all at once. A week later we noticed a major rythmn error that lasted for about 3/4 of a second. We spent 3 hours trying to re-create that guitar sound to punch in that 3/4 of a second. AAAAARGH!
Let's give that link a listen...
I wish this was getting played on the radio, so many dudes would call to request it to be dedicated to some girl they really hate.

Just gave "burning" a listen on your homepage. Those are some cool Greenday-esque harmonies.
Considering that Geen Day is one of the best at what they do I'll totally take that as a compliment.
P.S. The new stuff is actually quite good, and I wish you all lived around here so you could come check it out.![]()
I don't know much about music and it's associated terminology, so my critique might be off, technically...but anyway...
Great melody, strings, or whatever. Very pleasant and a nice chord progression. Worked great on it's own.
Singing though...eh, not my thing. Vocals have that sort of breathy quality that sounds good with certain types of music/songs, but I don't think it went with the melody. Seemed like words were being said "on the beat," like (and this is an exaggeration) you wrote the lyrics and the music seperately, and then tried to mix them together, pulling lines along longer if the chords demanded it, or carrying a word from a verse over to the next "chord-part" because it wouldn't fit naturally.
My main beef was the lyrics themselves, though. Everything else would sort of gel together (breathy voice, nice guitars) if the lyrics weren't so seriously weak. I'm pretty partial to the actual words in lyrics, and not just the way they sound, and in that regard the song didn't resonate with me at all. I think you even rhymed words with themselves ('room' and 'me')...the line "walked down the hallway to your room, now I'm in your room" made me cringe, and you used "Yeeeaaahhhh" as filler a couple times. Added another syllable to "window" (window-uh). Other times words didn't rhyme together even where it should have been easy too (car -> breathe).
I'm probably being too picky since you just threw it together in one afternoon, but, those are the area's I'd try to improve it.
