I thought they were prepared for those DOS attacks... unless they were prepared and that meaning they had to cut off services for some time. Fucking viruses.
Back in the day, we used to set up smurf chains and beat the piss out of Prodigy. Hehe. They were supposed to be prepared, too. Basically, if you have 1Gig of bandwidth available to you (and I have no idea what MS has, but it's got to be more than that), you will have trouble blocking 2Gigs of bandwidth coming in from a bunch of sources. These viruses were so widespread, and many idiots still have them, so it's more like the equivalent of 5Gigs of bandwidth hitting that 1Gig domain.
Sometimes we get slowed down here at TNL. Not often, but I've noticed occasional lag of a second or two when a lot of people are browsing.
It's like trying to shove 14 elephants through a mouse hole. I was thinking that we should try a modern day version of this by bouncing ICMP pings from various domains to the RIAA's stuff just to fuck with them. Those bastards.
