That is the most horrible lie ever printed.Either way, $99 is a fair price for a peripheral and a FF title.
...I wonder where they got the idea of ripping songs to the HD?According to Gamers.com, Sony has announced that Final Fantasy XI will hit the US next March with a $99 price tag.
FFXI will reportedly come pre-installed on the HDD hard drive, along with the lastest version of the Playstation BB Navigator software, and a handful of unspecified PS2 demos.
The American HDD will also allow players to rip music from their own CDs, so personal playlists on the PS2 will now become a reality.
It is not known whether an actual hard copy of FFXI will be bundled with the HDD, but in the age of save file corruptions and whatnot, keep your fingers crossed. Either way, $99 is a fair price for a peripheral and a FF title.
Again, FFXI: March 2004, $99.
I doubt I'm going to pick this up on day one, from what I've played nothing gave me the urge to buy it immediatly. I'm more interested in True Fantasy Live Online.

same thing i thought of when EA announced the use of the SOCOM headset with their games.Originally Posted by Shinobi128

I was kinda hoping they had monthly pricing for FFXI announced, since I plan on at least trying it on the PC, where a hard drive already resides.
I think $99 is a fair enough price for both the game and the hard drive... if it's just the drive though, forget it.
If it's a 40GB drive versus the 8GB drive present in the Xbox, I guess that somewhat justifies paying that much for a hard drive. A free month or two or three would be nice too with FFXI.
Is FFIX being sold seperate or not? I think no fee should be applied to be people who buy the HD with FFIX (thats if it gets released normally without the HD).

Well, since the hard drive is required for the game, I don't see why they would waive the monthly fee. It'd be nice, but I don't expect it to happen.

I wonder how much the drive is worth?
All that needs now is a keyboard, mouse, and an OS for all the little kiddies to download anime porn off Kazaa.

FFIX has been available for quite some time now, and no, you don't need a hard drive to play it, just a penchant for black mages.Originally Posted by Hot Like Wasabi

I have not played FFXI...
But from what I've seen of it, it's an america-styled mmorpg with a subtle flavoring of Final Fantasy references.
The current state of mmorpgs at the moment is pretty horrible (hooray for a month fee on a chat program!), so I'll be staying away...
Which sucks, 'cause being the Final Fantasy fan that I am, if it was even kinda good I'd buy it.![]()
