Hmmm, I may order either R-type Final or later Gradius V then. Thanks for the information on G.rev, I was unaware of their status. Currently Disgaea takes up my playtime until FFXI comes around.
Yes, it's a new DC shooter!
Maybe, I'm waiting on opinions.
No, I have no interest in the game.
No, I will buy it only on another console.
No, I will download it only.
Well then your not going to get to play Border Down as G.rev are a very small team and only have the resources to port the Naomi version to the Dreamcast.
It won't see a release on any other format in any other country.
Also in Japan where the DC is still reguarded as a current console there is no reason why more shmups can't become a possibility.

So why not just download it if you don't care about supporting the game's creators?Originally Posted by Taito
There's literally 5 people in the entire company. I'm sure even porting it to DC was a big strain for them. But if you have a DC, I don't know why you'd buy an inferior game (RTF) because you don't feel like hooking it up.Originally Posted by MariJ
RTF is bad then? I haven't played Border Down at all so I can't judge that, but at least with R-Type I know what to expect to some degree. If it's not up to snuff, I'll go with Gradius though it's not a major concern. Shooters aren't my lifeblood or anything.Originally Posted by Frogacuda
I apologize for going off topic and drawing responses to myself and away from the poll. It's interesting to see how different some of you are with regards to gaming, Dreamcast is very much alive at TNL.
Because I don't believe in theft? Because I tend to complain about the current state of gaming every now and then, and I don't believe those who engage in piracy have grounds to complain?Originally Posted by Frogacuda
Anyway, for your information, lobbying behind or against a company isn't Priority One for me, as far as gaming is concerned. Still, I'm beyond happy with supporting a company and participating in commerce if I have interest in the company's product.
And yes, my actions ultimately do make a statement, and will positively or negatively impact a producer like Grev, regardless of my actual, primary intent.
Not everyone has a cynical and elitist view of gaming, like they do at places like Gaming-Age (or what used to be OA). Plenty of people I know on other forums (besides TNL), and in real life, still actively use their DC.Originally Posted by MariJ
Don't mark R-Type Final as inferior until you play it.
And I do believe Border Down will hit another game console despite G.Rev's size. Doesn't mean I won't be snatching the DC version, of course. *-neo
Right. So you're trying to affect an outcome beyond your enjoyment of the game. Hence you're "supporting" something. That's all I'm getting at.Originally Posted by Taito
Yeah, I know. I'm just being an asshole. But I seriously haven't head many good things about RTF. Everyone seems disappointed.Originally Posted by neoalphazero
Well I haven't heard great things about Border Down, either. So where does that put us?Originally Posted by Frogacuda
Personally, I think if the games were switched (RTF on DC, Border Down on PS2) Border Down wouldn't receive half the enthusiasm it's getting from this board.

Where have you been reading sleeve?, Everyone who has played the Naomi version of Border Down has loved and praised it.Originally Posted by sleeveboy
And R-Type final is dissapointing...very dissapointing.
Maybe maybe not. My enthusiasm for BD is just because what I've seen of it really appeals to me. I really like Darius and Metal Black alot (more than most people seem to these days), and BD is something of a spiritual successor to both. There would absolutely be intrest in this game if it were not on DC: There was plenty of talk about it before the home port was announced. The DC thing may be a contributing factor though, I don't know. Personally the only reason I'd prefer DC over cube at this point is the accuracy of the port.Originally Posted by sleeveboy
I have heard plenty of positive buzz about BD though.
