I have no problem with 4G in midtown. Same for Queens. Long Island on the other hand, is 3G and doesn't have 4G...yet.

Since Wimax is a lame duck, I don't see Sprints 4G getting better until they start shipping LTE stuff, and by then they will be 3rd or 4th gen chipset stuff.

It will be interesting when the Bionic finally ships, as Motorola decided to ditch the Qualcomm LTE chipset for one designed in house from the ground up, so it will be essentially a 2nd generation LTE chipset.
I wanted the Bionic when it was shown off at CES 2011. But delays after delays and new redesign, I couldn't wait for it anymore. I wanted to get a new phone before I went on my vacation and luckily I did. The Thunderbolt and Google features saved my ass when driving. Google Maps, search and navigation was a life saver. Had I not upgrade and still had my Blackberry Bold 9650, I would be waiting forever (both in traffic and waiting for BB to pull up the info).

As for the new Bionic (slated for 9/8 release), I've heard that the battery life is superb. 15 hours on a full day. But it wasn't noted if it was on 4G or WIFI.

  3. Google Maps/Navigation is great...when it works.

I'm in midtown right now and have nothing. It's actually flipping me the bird on the 4G switch. I got absolutely no 3G signal off the 61st St. stop on the 7 train area. It blew.

And what service provider do you have? I take the 7 train everyday to work and have 4G from Main all the way until I get into the tunnel. I work at Penn and have 4G in my office.

I haven't had a problem with it yet. Its actually better than my freaking in-car nav. I've heard of stories of the map taking you to a road that's a dead end but wants you to continue. Just booked our vacation to Orlando and I'll be using my phone as my main GPS. Last time we went, we brought our Garmin with its bean bag stand, car charger and all its doo-dads. Hopefully, Google Maps/Nav won't take me into the Atlantic Ocean or swamps. LOL

  7. When it works, which is most of the time, Google Nav is the best GPS I've ever used...it certainly kicks VZ Navigator's ass. But here and there it'll lag behind where I really am, or send me down a road that used to have a bridge back in the 1970's, but for the most part, it's great.

  8. I have Sprint.
