    I need more math books. I'm still looking for a good, comprehensive History of Math book. The only ones I've found are big coffee table affairs with lots of pictures (neat, and I probably will buy one eventually, but not precisely what I had in mind).

    [Edit]: lol, this Fermat guy is pretty stylish. He's basically a 17th century intellectual troll, getting his kicks out of watching other mathematicians flail around trying to solve problems he wouldn't give them the proofs for.

    G, E, B is a great book. Never did finish it though---it's so large. Maybe I'll give it another go.

    But yeah, I've got such a backlog. Half of my internet bookmarks are wiki pages of books I want to read including: A Short History of Nearly Everything, Blood Meridian, and this wonderful gem, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Got so many books on my shelf too-- if only there were more time in the day!

  6. Just finished up the fourth omnibus of The Black Company - by Glen Cook. Finishes up the series, I guess... He says he plans of writing two other books at some point, but is contracted to do other stuff.

    I just bought the first omnibus, I hope TBC is good. Dust of Dreams is kinda bore right now.

  8. Dust of Dreams is crazy!! They always seem kind of slow to me until I've finished the book... then I can't wait until the next one. I think I liked Lethar more than you though.

    I'm curious to see what you think of TBC... Four omnibus, about 10 books.. but a lot shorter than malazan. The Sawnland art of the cover is really cool. The first kind of fantasy element they introduce in so typical lame fantasy cliche I almost couldn't go on.. but it stays away from that most of the rest of the time. The series has some interesting character development.. it tends to stray from trying to describe "cool" action scenes. It flops a lot from soldering story to fantasy stuff to cultural exploration and back through. The idea of narration through the series is one of the more interesting aspects.

  9. Finally finished the Dark Tower series tonight. Last book in the series was the best, but I don't think that's saying much.

    One time my girlfriend woke me up to say bye, she was off to work, and in my half-asleep daze I came this close to telling her, "Long days and pleasant nights" as a farewell. Too much Dark Tower.

    Probably gonna read some shit by Plato next.
