Thread: What Are You Reading?

  1. For some reason I really liked the second book. I just reread it recently but didn't go on to reread book three. Something about the transition from the cards at the end of book one into the second book was appealing to me.

  2. I mean, it's good. I like it a lot. I just can't get into it right now.

  3. Finished If Chins Could Kill recently. Bruce's recollection of his life was fairly amusing. No surprises there. However, what DID end up being rather interesting were his insights into how the film and TV industries operate (at least how they did at the time) and his detailed retelling of what it was like for a bunch of green kids from the 'burbs of Detroit to try and successfully put together a legit movie. My copy of ICCK is a later edition and has the epilogue describing his experience during the Chins Across America Tour to promote the book, which was a nifty little bonus. Overall this was a pretty good read, as far as autobiographies go.

Now I'm rereading Gates of Fire. I also want to get my hands on a copy of You Are Going to Prison. I've never read the whole thing.
...because without the bitter, baby, the sweet ain't as sweet.

  4. The Stand is a very large book.

... but will it hold my interest what with this copy of A Clash of Kings sitting right next to it...? Hmmmm

  5. It will hold your interest because it is the most brilliant and important literary work ever created. I'm ashamed that I have yet to read the unabridged version.

  6. The Stand is really good.. until the end.

Read the unabridged version with more characters and more content, like a man.

Maybe that should've been singular, I think it may only have been one character that was left out. It's been years!

I heard it had a lot more interesting stuff about Trash Can Man. When I read it, it was my father's original gangsta copy from way back when. The unabridged version is somewhere in the queue, behind the Dark Tower books (which I just started tonight).

  9. Man, I put The Dark Tower on hold until I get more Stephen King books under my belt. I love the story, but I need to man up and get more out of the... Kingaverse?

Is the Kingaverse a parallel dimension where women and minorities are all shallow and terrible?

  10. That's the Regularverse.
