Has anyone here read Alas Babylon by Pat Frank?
I've read it about five times.
It's about how people survive nuclear war in a small town in Florida.

I'm still on The Tube Amp book. Now that I'm past the collector's bits and into the technical stuff it's turning out to be a great book. I got a chuckle when discussing the discharging of capacitors the author mentions "this permits you to avoid being electrocuted".
I also read Pain and Passion: The Story of Stampede Wrestling while on my way to and from California. Brilliant book.
Whilst in Cali I purchased Guerilla Jiu Jitsu by Dave Camarillo who quit the Olympic judo program because he wanted to train jiu jitsu instead. It'll be a good one.
im reading A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole. it took me a while to get into the main character for a bit but im really liking it now. its pretty funny.
Wear more flannel.
I read this. It was okay. The dude has some amusing long-winded diatribes. I think the book gets more credit than it deserves because of the story behind its publication (author kills himself w/o telling anyone about it, mother finds the manuscript some time after, submits it, publisher freaks out at how great it is, immediately publishes it... at least that's what I remember hearing... and that all kind of sounds like a scam now that I think about it).
Weren't they going to make it into a movie with Will Farrell as the main character?
i only picked it up because i saw it in a bookstore, the reviews said it was hilarious and i vaguely recognized the title. i know the author only has one other book out and he died kind of young so that story is possible.
i dont think will farrell would be very believable as that guy though.
