Don't remember who Bergstien was...Originally Posted by shidoshi
Anyways, what I heard is that although Gamefan made a profit, it wasn't profitable enough to be worth the "effort" of keeping it going.
To think like a suit, you have to think like a 3 year old. Short-sighted, greedy, etc...

I still remember something about Eidos dipping their hands in Gamefan's ownership which I'm lead to belive is also half responsible for it's death.
Does anyone currently own the rights to Gamefan itself or can some former editors bring it back without obligation?
Eidos didn't do much, well, they did somehow, and I'm not sure why, but Bergstein got them to 'invest' 55 Million dollars or something in Express.com.
Last I heard, 27 Million or so of that was 'missing' and he was in charge of that. I'm seriously surprised they haven't put a hit out on him.
Either Jay Puryear has the rights, or they are still in limbo, I'm not sure which.
...I wonder if the bankrupcy of express.com would make it possible, though improbable, for some entity to buy the rights to Gamefan...
I'm not quite sure, but it seems unlikely.
There's probably some baggage that goes in tow with it, and you really dont' want any of that.
Ziff tried to buy the name "Gamefan" for what is known as "GameNOW".
Didn't happen, obviously. Which is a good thing, of course.
