Thread: Hunter: The Reckoning - Redeemer

  1. I was waiting for someone to post about this game, i got it and am playing the heck out of it. I think they rectified a number of my complaints about the first one.

The new leveling up system for various weapons is good if you are playing multiplayer, as the healers can work on their edges and get multi character healing faster, similarly the gunners will find that by being able to level up their guns you not only get a cooler looking gun, but it will have a better rate of fire, more bullets in a clip, and will do substantially more damage.

The character redisignes are a mixed bag, i think the priest and raver benefitted, but the cop and the biker got uglier, and the orphin/fanservice..lets just say that i didnt know silicon repelled zombies

the storyline is not particularly deep, you see most twists miles ahead of them happening, but it still gets the job done of putting you in plausable situations to massacre hordes of rots.

the bosses, which i disliked in the first game because of their emphasis on just backpedeling while unloading bullets are imporved, i thought the first one was cheap, but the last 3 i fought all had doable patterns.

One change i dont like is the new secondary guns system, it used to be that once you had the m-16 all machine gun ammo stayed with that one, regardless of if it was a weaker gun, you upgraded when you touched it, here you have 3 slots, and if you have a left over bullets from a weaker gun or shotgun, you have to use them up(often on the walls) to get a better shotgun or machine gun, i dont like that.

the final thing i liked about the game was the new "ammos" The gunners are no longer relegated to jsut firing round after round of lead at the enemy, you can now find various limited time use ammos(but they are plentiful) such as holy, poision, fire, and stun ammo. for the designated gunner, this is a big thing, as he/she can now spray a horde with paralytic ammo and then let the tankers go in and whup on the stunned baddies.

Overall i was impressed witht his game, it engaged me a lot more than the first hunter, looks a lot sweeter, has werewolves, and just over all is a better game, definitly a good buy, but must buy if it hits 29.99 or lower,im happy with my purchase here, and will be going through a gain a few times(i think iamnear the end)

  3. Ok, just beat it, fortunatly i can say that it stays consistent throuought the game, the story leaves a lot unsaid, and the ending bugged me since they got rid of my favorite character, but im going through with a different character right away, so that says something.

And despair, no the auto aiming and camera are still the same, but the cheap hit materailizations are gone, now the bads either jump or rappell in, or somehow telegraph their enterance, but no cheap hits, but same aiming and camera.

I liked the aiming. On the crossbow it worked well.

I never used the up close weapons.

  5. 88, Except for the fact that you constantly shot arrorws on the monster closest to you, and not the one you WANTED to shoot.

  6. Why is the closest monster to you NOT the one you want to shoot?

  7. Well, Because sometimes you got Monsters with long range weapons to take care first. When choosing between slow lumbering zombie next to you from which you can run away, and 2 zombies with shotguns firing at you from short distance, I choose to take care of shotgun zombies first. But the game will continuesly aim on the closest zombie instead, so you will get shot by shotgun blasts before you could kill them. It was quite annoying, and cheap.

  8. Is this any better than the original Hunter? I felt the characters moved way too slowly. Hopefully, it's sped up a bit in Wayward/Redeemer.

And these are probably some of the last batch of WOD games since White Wolf is going to end the line of games (it's the Time Of Judgment) come next year with a grand finale.

Geez, time to bust out my Wraith books...

(On that note, I see White Wolf giving us plenty Exalted in the coming years.)

  9. I like Exalted, but It'll be disheartening to see all of this Year of Reckoning just take off.

The World of Darkness is one of the best fantasy worlds ever crafted, and it'll be a shame to see it go like that.

Despair: That makes sence, but like I said before, ranged weapons are a joke in this game. Stick to your axe/kamas/katana/buster sword/straight sword. They're much better weapons.

  10. One on the very few game I actually enjoyed playing with up to 4 players (I hate split screen modes). Gameplay and control were top notch. I really can't wait (so do my others fellow player friends) to get my hands on Redeemer.

I know nothing of White Wolf, nor do I care if it follows the card game, role playing stuff. I simply enjoy dismembering zombie fest.

    Long live Martyr!
