This show doesn't fuck around! I'm near the end and everything is coming back and tying up nicely. Way better than I expected it to be.
The Hughes thing was totally bullshit! There may have been manly tears.

I haven't watched this since fansubs, it's all on Netflix... I feel like it'd be good to revisit.
Mzo are you watching brotherhood or the first anime?
Do brotherhood, its significantly better in every way and follows the better manga story. Its also longer and has tons of characters left out of the original anime.
I'm like 5 episodes away from finishing the first series. I read a couple books of the manga years ago, but it didn't really grab me. The anime is kind of slow to start but really well done, everything it tries to do works out pretty well.
It's funny that they made so much money from the first series that they would do it again with higher production values and whatnot.

The first series finished LONG before the manga did. They had no choice but to make up characters and end the story somehow, because the manga wouldn't finish for another five years or so.
Brotherhood is not a straight remake. Entire characters and plot points in the first anime never happened in the manga and the explanations for how alchemy works, where the homonculi came from and who made them is completely different. The movie is based on an alchemy explination that isn't the manga one. The first anime series doesn't have the alchahestry vs alchemy thing thw manga got into, you don't see the wall, it didn't have entire archs that only exist because of Father and it doesn't explain Hoenheim at all.
I won't spoil it, but your watching the Spiderman where ben was shot outside a liquor store for no fucking reason. Brotherhood isn't kind of better, its miles above and if you watch it you'll never watch the first anime again. Seriously, if you liked this watch the better version and prepare to be blown away.
I'll start Brotherhood then.
