  2. Hah. Alright CV, I give. You win this round.

  4. Honestly, I would keep them...

but thats only because any money I can get would be really helpful. 12 games X 50 = 600 dollars. Dang. Its not a lot of money to a working guy, but to me it is.

But I'd feel bad about it...

And I know in 5 or 10 years when Im financially secure I would DEFINITELY send them back. But not at the moment.

  5. "They fucked up" is a valid enough excuse to keep them. However, next time you give someone at a register a 50 instead of a ten, or drop a five in the street, it's not yours anymore, because you fucked up.

Personally, I would return them, simply because I could sleep better at night knowing I did the right thing than I would on a pile of inferior ports of Soul Calibur 2.

  6. To whoever said that he's "taking" the games, how so? He JUST got them. He expected one copy, there was more than one copy there, without him having any prior knowledge of that being the case.

Dude, that's pretty harsh. I'm from Botswana. And I don't think you could find it on a map!

By expressing his intention to not return them, he has stolen them.

Rationalize it all you want, man, it's still illegal.

At least diffx could admit that even though he'd keep them, he knew it wasn't right.

  9. I'd keep 'em, but I'm the kinda guy that would drink human blood if it extended my life.

  10. Wow I didn't expect such a reactions from people. And it's interesting to read your comments. But before accusing me of thief, man without moral, or plain idiotic... give me a break here!

I have been in possession of these games for less than 20 hours. I am still considering what to do about it. I first asked for other people's thoughts on message boards and in real life. Now, why is it that I don't feel any remorse? Maybe that's because an online shop sent me a package by mistake and no theft on my part has ever happened.

Keeping something that does not belong to me is wrong, but I'm far from being a thief. Now I'd like to add some more to this situation.

1- If I inform them of the error and send them back, surely Futureshop will appreciate, and sell them back. So a multi-million dollars company will meet its profit expectations this fiscal year and all share holders will live happily ever after.

2- What if I sell them to some of my close friends and use the money for something positive. Say, sponsor a sick child in a third-world country. Hehe, I know it's extreme but let me show you my point. I'm not saying this is what I intend to do, but let's see where it goes. I make my friends happy for selling them a good game for a fair price. And I practically save a child's life (or many children), feed them and send them to school for the rest of their life.

See? What some of you called "moral" earlier, I call it "being a victim of laws". Something's not yours, so it is your responsability as a honest tax-paying citizen, to send it back right away? Futureshop problably has not realized it yet and we all know it. So why not using this good fortune to make the world better instead? That's what I call morals. Sponsoring a sick child was a typical response, but I could just give it to a charity foundation in Montreal. Anyone that could use some extra bucks.

By the way, take into consideration that I am dealing with a company owned by share holders who would care not much about morals. I would return it to the owner if I was dealing with a different source (like someone on Ebay for exemple). Also I am not trying to justify anything, just think before accusing someone of theft.

  11. This reminds me how Sony sent me 2 PS2s. It was March after the launch when systems were still scarce. They had a new shipment at a certain time of day on Playstation.com. I waited and entered my info as quick as possible, but didn't include the unit number for my condo. So I immediately called them to try to fix things but they were closed already. I called several times over the week to try to track the package and eventually they just sent a replacement one. I ended up getting PS2 and was ecstatic. To my surprise I come home one day to see another FedEx slip from Sony a few weeks later, for my original PS2 order. I hid it in my closet for a few days, and when I got the balls I sold the unopened one to a local import shop at retail price ($300) since they were selling it normally for a jacked up price. I wasted the money of course, but it was one hell of a surprise.

Honestly. They aren't even XBox copies and they have diaper-man in there.

    Which proves the point.

Be charitable to me. I could use some extra bucks.

  14. I think you should send them back.

They are now certain to find out about it, whether it be true or not.

  15. mindfield, what you just said about putting it towards children reminds me of that Simpsons episode...

Bart: Uh, say, are you guys crooks?

Tony: Bart, um, is it wrong to steal a loaf of bread to feed your starving
    family?

    Bart: No.

Tony: Well, suppose you got a large starving family. Is it wrong to steal
a truckload of bread to feed them?

    Bart: Uh uh.

Tony: And, what if your family don't like bread? They like... cigarettes?

    Bart: I guess that's okay.

Tony: Now, what if instead of giving them away, you sold them at a price that was practically giving them away. Would that be a crime, Bart?

    Bart: Hell, no!

Subj: Grievous Error on a recent shipment. You shipped 12 game for the price of 1

This may or may not be true, but I would think it's worth looking into.

Best 90$ I've EVER spent. Them silly did NOT ship me one game, they shipped an entire BOX full of Soul Calibur 2 (12 to be exact!).

    http://www.the-nextlevel.com/board/s...8&page=1&pp=30

The face I made when I oppened the box, confirmed my enthousiast. It was way too heavy to be a simple DVD case along with a memory card. God dammit! haha.

It all started yesterday, when I played the Soul Calibur 2 demo featured on the OXM October disc (I think). Two or three rounds and I was SOLD! It was exactly what I was expecting as a sequel to the dreamcast game. But I wanted to get the PS2 version for practical purpose, this system is shared with my roomates in the living room.

So I logged in and went to futureshop.ca, I ordered the PS2 version online because I did not feel like going downtown for the sole pupose of buying a game and return back home. On my way to check out, I thought I needed a new PS2 memory card (those damn sports games take all the space!).

Best 90$ I've EVER spent. Them silly did NOT ship me one game, they shipped an entire BOX full of Soul Calibur 2 (12 to be exact!). If I ordered the Xbox version instead, would such a luck have happened? Would the guy in the backstore have made the same mistake? Honestly I don't really care right now, I think I'll just turn the PS2 on and play copy #5.. or maybe #9. Ahh! Decisions...

So hum.. let's start a thread about good lucks and misfortunes in online shopping. Had any?

PS: just because the camera isn't too far, see attachment:

  17. Wow. Whether it's right or wrong, it wasn't your moral obligation to step in and do that. You probably told on kids a lot when you were in school, huh?

  18. I can live with you thinking those things.

  19. It's very clear that you're able to live with people not liking you after that. Oh well. Sorry mindfield that your decision was made for you.

  20. The only sad thing, is that you feel the need to apologize to someone who bragged about a mistake a company made in his favor.

You run out in the street and brag about something that some people find morally objectionable, you run the risk of getting turned in.

    No pity on this one.

  21. right or wrong, I think we can all agree MVS is a prick.

  22. I agree with you 100% about that. Posting about something like that was not a smart move on his part. I find it equally sad that another human being saw fit to make his decisions for him, and potentionally get the guy in serious trouble (doubtful, but possible).

Was it a dumb move on his part? Yep, sure was.

Did you have to go out of your way to report this guy, who has done absolutely nothing wrong to you? No, you didn't.

So, yes, I feel sorry for this guy. He tried to share something that brought him some joy with others, and instead the people he wanted to tell the tale to ended up turning him in. He's going to feel pretty shitty in the morning, and for that, I feel remorse for the guy. Thus, I apologize.

[edit]The "I agree with you 100% about that" is in regards to MVS's post, not about him being a prick. That issue is still debatable.

    An honest prick, thank you.

Not quite dishonest nice guys like you, but, that's fine.

Then, NoFace, perhaps he will learn an important lesson in life.

If you want to get away with something, you tell no one about it.

I didn't go out of my way to do anything. J

If I knew of a person, who had a spouse that was bragging about fucking around on them, you can bet your ass I would tell that person.

    Is it my business? Nope.

Is it the right thing to do? Yep.

    Good call.

  25. Did you try talking to this guy before you reported him? Did you say, "Listen, if you don't do the right thing and send those back, I'll let this company know about them anyway"? No, you didn't. While you'd still be acting out of place, at least it'd be somewhat better than what you did.

You dishonestly went behind this guy's back and acted by yourself, and posted about it to look like some champion of honesty. Bravo.

You're absolutely right. I'm sure he'll learn a good lesson about trusting his fellow man from this. And again, I agree with you that it was stupid of him to try to make a big scene out of it.

  26. 1) I don't owe this dude a goddamn thing.
    2) If I worked for a company and was on the recieving end of this, I would want to know.
    3) I treat people how I want to be treated.

I'm not trying to be a champion of anything.

If you are stupid enough to brag about something like this, you deserve to be turned in.

I wonder if you would feel half so happy about this, if the result of this event (without reported) was the loss of someones job?

Good for them, they are stupid they don't deserve a job so some shithead kid can have 12 copies for the price of 1?

    Fuck that noise.

  27. Like your reason for reporting it has anything to do with altruism

  28. It's simple for me.

You have a Girlfriend. I don't know you, but I overhear that she's fucking the 5th fleet, or your brother at a bar.

Is it my business to tell you? Nope.

Would you want to know? I think you all would.

Would I tell you? You bet your ass.

You can think whatever you want to. I'm done replying to you.

  29. Hurry, sell your extra copies of soul calibur and hire a lawyer!

edit: somewhere in the aether a current stirs... strange forces spiral towards earth and sensitive beings faint from the strain. A shifting of the cosmic scales creates a sound of infinite bandwidth but zero volume that seeps into the subconcious of dreamers and causes them to turn restlessly in their slumber, and somehow 680x0 knows.... he's back on MVS's ignore list

  30. I gotta go with Matt on this. I have a friend in the loss prevention biz and it's a shame how many people turn the other way when people steal. Bravo to Matt for doing the right thing.
