  1. Uh-oh Futureshop: Buy 1, get 11 free

    The face I made when I oppened the box, confirmed my enthousiast. It was way too heavy to be a simple DVD case along with a memory card. God dammit! haha.

    It all started yesterday, when I played the Soul Calibur 2 demo featured on the OXM October disc (I think). Two or three rounds and I was SOLD! It was exactly what I was expecting as a sequel to the dreamcast game. But I wanted to get the PS2 version for practical purpose, this system is shared with my roomates in the living room.

    So I logged in and went to futureshop.ca, I ordered the PS2 version online because I did not feel like going downtown for the sole pupose of buying a game and return back home. On my way to check out, I thought I needed a new PS2 memory card (those damn sports games take all the space!).

    Best 90$ I've EVER spent. Them silly did NOT ship me one game, they shipped an entire BOX full of Soul Calibur 2 (12 to be exact!). If I ordered the Xbox version instead, would such a luck have happened? Would the guy in the backstore have made the same mistake? Honestly I don't really care right now, I think I'll just turn the PS2 on and play copy #5.. or maybe #9. Ahh! Decisions...


    So hum.. let's start a thread about good lucks and misfortunes in online shopping. Had any?

  2. very similar to what happend to me earlier this year, (ordered one game, ended getting three more and a bunch of bonus discs) wait a month or so before you decide to make some profit, just in case they catch the error.

  4. None in online shopping but back when I bought Gitaroo Man I opened the case to find two discs inside.

    yeah, I think 12 copies is hard not to notice. I will at least wait for my Visa bill to arrive, then I'll sell them all for cheap!

    I think that answers your question.

    When I bought the JSR and the JSRF soundtracks, I received the SPC5 and the SPC5 remix tracks instead. I contacted the seller, and he sent me the JSR ones and told me I could keep the SC5 ones. Yay!

    I also received two OMFG BRAND NEW UNOPENED Earthworm Jim 2's for the Saturn. I returned one, since they wouldn't really turn too big a profit.

    Those were a while ago, nothing recent I remember.

    So you sell me a game used for $10, I open it up, and you forgot two other CDs in the game's case. So because you screwed up, those games are now mine as well?

    Mistakes happen. If you take advantage of the mistake and keep the extra games, you're a thief, plain and simple. If you're okay being a thief, then just say so. But don't try to justify your keeping of the extra copies.

  13. Being in online retail myself I have mixed feelings on this. For one thing, what kind of fucking idiot would pack an unopend box of SC2's? That's just idiotic. I think you should let them know though... that's a big hit for them to take... they should offer you something for your honesty though... that's just the right thing to do.

  14. People should be responsible enough to keep track of what they're selling and what they're shipping out. If they don't pay attention enough to notice eleven extra copies sent out, well, that's not the customer's problem.

    mindfield didn't steal a thing. If this goes unnoticed on the retailer's radar, well, lucky him. Sure it's not honest, but it isn't stealing either.

  15. Mistakes happen though... although not usually on that scale. What if you ordered 12 copies and they only shipped you for 1? I'm sure you'd be up in arms about that, and would contact them right away, and expect them to make it right. People in online stores aren't infallible... they make mistakes like everyone else. Although I continue to maintain that whoever packed that is the biggest fucking moron ever.

    If they sent you a single copy Mortal Kombat instead of a single copy of Soul Calibur, you wouldn't take any action, since it was their fault, right?

  17. I fully stand on the side of the consumer at all times. If you had paid for 12 and you got 1, then it's the consumer's job to realize that and rectify the situation. Same thing applies with the retailer. They shipped 12 when he paid for 1. If they say to mindfield to ship them back, he definitely should. But at this point the responsibility is on them to fix their problem.

    Good point. Look guys I shouldn't feel guilty right now. I just recieved a freakin package, I didn't hack their site to ship me 12. I realize the value of eleven games and I know it's not a tiny mistake. I'll play the waiting game for a while and see if they contact me first. They have my bill, my email adress, etc. Now, is that wrong?

    It's Futureshop we are talking about, not just some "Honest Bill's Video Store" kind of place.

    All of you who think he should send it back... say you went to an ATM to withdraw $100 from your account.

    $1200 comes out. A quick check of your balance reveles that only the $100 you requested came out of your account.

    I try not to freak out so that the camera doesn't show me celebrating in front of an ATM, put the money in my pocket, and leave.

    Pick up some friends, go over to Tootsie's... That sounds about right.

  26. i cancelled a $5 preorder for f-zero gx (i bought it elsewhere,) but the guy gave me back $50. i didn't realize until i walked out of the store, but i still brought it back. stupid? maybe, but i felt bad.. especially considering that i've been shopping there for years.

    that said, keeping the sc2s is tacky, even if it's your right.

    To be a theif, you have to actually "steal" something in order to qualify. However, having a package shipped to you "as is" does go against that, so I don't think I would be going as far as to call him one. Do you see retailers getting sued or jailed for selling unclaimed product?

    Mindfield: I'd wait awhile before selling them. I belive it's either 7 days to a month to legally correct the problem before it's out of their hands. Of course by then, I'll be willing to accept freebies if you don't mind.
