i would like to buy it (i never got around to playing the first one,) but there's just too many other games i'm in the middle of.
Wow, kinda surprised there isn't any discussion about this game...
Anyway, you can now play as Lu Bu (as well as the 3 other characters), there's a larger emphasis on combos, there are difficulty levels, and chain features.
Anyone give this thing a go yet? I'm going to give it a little more time before barking opinions.

Played, got four of five Liu Bei's ending including epilogue, and playing Cao Cao's epilogue in the current play.Originally Posted by haohmaru
The last Liu Bei game i got a 100/100/100 with over 200 officers(all of Cao Cao's officers except him, and almost all of Sun Quan's), insane amount of damage, and 16 combo.
I'm sure StriderKyo is playing it but he has been missing from TNL lately. Or maybe that's why he's missing. He's too busy playing it.
Anyway, it looks good. I liked what I played of the first game.
Yes! This game is better than the first pretty much across the board, and is eating up my free time in ways I wish I had the willpower to combat. Tycho from Penny arcade, who was also a fan of the first, said pretty much the same thing last week.Originally Posted by NeoZeedeater
Of course, I've also got a new/more demanding job, a new girlfriend, and I'm putting alot more work into school this year, which are the real culprits behind my absence. But DT2 will do as a handy scapegoat. It's all about those Guan Yu multi-tactic combos!

Hrm, I dunno if I'm with you on it being better than the first. It's very combo heavy and the ability to chain four combos to one officer in the same turn seems a bit much to me...
I'm still in "hung jury" mode.

Learnable tactics, makes Jiang Wei so much more useful in this game than the first one.
No repeated pit and taunt traps, the only useful trap in the game is Zhang Fei's entice.
I like all the 2 version of tactics, making combos more fun to do.
NO TRUMPS.
Generals don't automatically jump after you when recruited, you have to target them out with spies.

Actually kind of difficult.
The whole map being avaiable.
Its a landslide for two in my opinion.
Yeah, the no pit/taunt thing is really what makes it for me. Those tactics really broke the first one. The re-spiffified visuals and better (imo) use of terrain are big plusses, too.

I actually voted for the first one (my review is coming soon) as being better, mostly for these reasons:
Combo Overkill (having Zhang Fei, or whoever, do 4 or 5 combos as a chain in one turn and then having more combos unleashed is ludicrous and boring)
Pit and Taunt are STILL way too powerful compared to other combos
Even the fucking catapults have combos and can move and fire on the same turn (huh?)
It's easier than the first, despite difficulty levels
