Sega's platform-agnostic, retro-driven march to world domination continues.
Sega of America has announced more than twenty titles across all three home platforms. As promised, the company is endeavoring to bring back some hits from its illustrious past.
For the GameCube:
Super Monkey Ball 2 - Those crazy simians and their fantastic rolling machines return with a story mode, over 150 stages, and a dozen party games.
Phantasy Star Online: Episodes I & II - All the levels from the first game, plus a new adventure. Up to four people can play on one television.
Beach Strikers - Take Virtua Tennis, add sand and bikinis, and puree. Serve with a lime.
For the Xbox:
Panzer Dragoon Orta - It looks like it will be an action shooter and not a role-playing game. There are ten levels to battle through, on a dragon that morphs in real time to add strategy to the mix.
ToeJam & Earl III: All Funked Up - Funkmeister fun with randomly generated worlds, a huge list of presents, and more boogie than you can beat off with a stick.
Sega GT 2002 - 125 classic and current vehicles, all designed with painstaking attention to detail. Also, a "Chronicle Mode" that allows car geeks to race muscle cars from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
The House of the Dead III It won't be cel-shaded, but it should be gory.
Crazy Taxi III: High Roller - More arcade racing around and fast-paced moneymaking.
For the PlayStation 2:
Shinobi - Ninja Magic comes to post-apocalyptic Tokyo as Hotsuma battles demons to avenge his clan.
Gungrave - Twin handguns and a coffin (!) as weapons, a dark hero who fights like a fantastical anime star, and six levels of stylish intense destruction? I know a guy named Despair who would probably eat this up.
Sega Bass Fishing Duel - A fishing tournament that now includes stages based on real lakes.
Ferrari F355 Challenge - Racing that is even friendly to newbies. Advanced drivers can take right to the hairpin turns while those just getting their licenses can perfect their Power Slides.
Sega Sports Titles:
