    First of all, I thought this was going to have a small print run on XBox as it is.

    Second, the only way I can describe that logic is counter-intuitive:

    "If this console port sells well on a machine which is shown to have a history of having shitty software sales, we'll gladly port the game to the other consoles (including the two which already have the first game of the series) where it would have sold better by default in the first place."

    Sales is only part of it. Cost is the other factor. GC is easy to port Naomi games to, much more so than PS2 or Xbox. They're testing the waters with a low initial investment.

    I thought that gamecube software sales were OK in Japan, despite the problems here (US).

    I also thought that the system choice was decided by a poll or something?

    Well then Alfa Systems should borrow the conversion methods that Capcom used for Cap SNK2 or Sega did for Ferrari F355, for example.

    If other companies can manage it, why can't they?

    It was, but that doesn't make the people that voted on the poll less retarded.

    Besides, it's not like Alfa Systems was contractually obligated to obey the whims of their poll. When Tecmo put up a poll on their website as to where the new Ninja Gaiden should show up, GC was the majority vote.

    It has been leaked/rumored by several sources that a Xbox version should pop up in November/December. His comments are all mindless PR geared to sell a few more Gamecube copies. A week after it's release a Xbox, PS2, or DC port wil probably be announced.

    True, but honestly I wouldn't worry much. If the game sells 10,000 units the first week that should be enough. Hell, Ikaruga DC and Dodonpachi PS2 did 15,000 out the gate and they were considered successes. *-neo

  12. Played some more MLF2 last night... yeah, still not a huge fan of the game. Style / atmosphere / graphics / music all kind of sucks. Gameplay is ok but nothing amazing - I prefer the up-close attack style of Mars Matrix over what is given here.

    Looks like I'm sticking with my plan to order Border Down and will be skipping Shikigami II.

    imo, a very good call. Mars Matrix craps all over Shiki; it's WAY overhyped. Border Down is very good to excellent from what I hear and that's not surprising given the talent behind it.

    I want both Shiki2 and BD (well I already have BD), but if I had to chose, I'd definately say BD is the way to go.

    It's not an LE, it comes packaged with all copies in the first printing, like the Hajime no Ippo manga box.

  20. I've found a place that takes pre-orders including the damn cat but the price is fucking absurd, 65£, which is roughly 105$!
    Of corse living outside europe means you can skip the taxes(ca 17%) if I'm not totaly off. Here's a link for future needs, they can get pretty hard to get items sometimes http://www.jpngames.co.uk/

    The official page for Shikigami no Shiro II GC has been opened. Lots of new info available as well. The Gamecube version will include all 7 characters from the arcade, and have a few playable modes. Arcade will take you through the full story mode, practice mode is basically score/stage attack. Unlockables include 'story recollect' mode, where you can hear/view the dialogue from the story, which should be worth something given the fact that they've hired some professional voice actors to do the voice. There will also be a gallery mode for the illustrations, et al. The game will feature TATE (vertical) mode, as the last one did - and this time in normal mode there will be an illustration of your character on the sidebars. Vibration and progressive scan are also to be available. The game is planned for an October 24th release at 6800 yen.
    Modded D-Terminal/Component cable users...fear not.

    You should be able to play this game w/o having to mod my GC right? I thought that like Action Replays or something can do this?

    This is incase there is no slated US release in the near future (that is there is no announcement of a US release)

  23. You can use the Freeloader boot disc, which is sold at EB and the like. I'm not sure about the Action Replay, since I've never used one.

    Then again, don't you have some soldering experience? I'm assuming this from your custom stick work which you've talked about elsewhere. Well a GC mod is just a toggle switch and two wires; couldn't be any easier really.

    I hate soldering. I have ruined too many things. Besides, if the freeloader has no problems then I will use it instead. play-asia.com gives you a bundle deal if you order the Freeloader with an import GC game

    I called my import shop and they didn't get it yet. Usually they have the game the day it comes out in Japan.

    Most of the stores that are online shipped yesterday and today. So, yeah if someone lives very close to the them or did overnight shipping then they'd probably have it by now. I should have mine on Monday

  28. They improved this game quite a bit. I was a moderate fan of the first, and this is impressing me more than I thought. These guys did their homework. And when I say they did their homework I don't mean they sat there and copied the answers out of the back of the book.

    I haven't played through the game it in it's entirety- but they basically maintained the great aspects of the first game, refined and tweaked them, and added some more. I thought the first game lacked variety, and so far they seem to have more variety to enemies, bosses, and bullet patterns.

    I'm glad they redid the characters, they were fluid in the first game but a bit pixelized. They look very smooth and fluid, and the new characters are pretty cool.


    Double shienryu is ok, I'm not too impressed with the new one- but then again this is a budget release so it's not a bad deal.
