Great games that got ruined for you

I'm sure we all have had these lovely moments, when you're enjoying a game just to have the experienced ruined. What are some of your gaming wrecking moments? A few of mine are:

Landstalker - Twice I played far into it and accidentally knocked the power plug out. Both times my saves got erased.

Morrowind - God damn vampirism. I didn't realize I had become a vampire until after I saved over all my saves. I did look on the internet to see what the cure was but it makes you go on an epic quest just to cure it. I got too frustrated after a while.

Final Fantasy VIII's card game - I was loving this mini game, then... enter the random rule. That took the fun out of it.

Star Tropics - I was liking my quest. I get to the part where it asks for a password from the instruction book. Wait a minute, I bought the game used without the instructions. Joy!

    Oh... I loved that!
The letter that came with the game...
Get it wet, and the password and a message come through.
    747, by the way

It does kinda screw over people who didn't find the game MIB at Toys 'R Us for 5.97 eight years ago, though.
Card Fighter's Clash was almost ruined for me when my little brother started a new game over my 297/300 save, but then I played it over again. I'm at 281/300, currently.

  3. Shining Force 3 for Saturn. Three times I got very far in this game only to have my save file corrupted and I couldn't load my game.

  4. Xbox 360 I

Resident Evil: Code Veronica.: I fell victim to leaving the fire exstinguisher in the metal detector box, so I wasn't able to access it in the later part of the game to advance, and had to start over.

I had a similar experience... I missed the grenade launcher, tried to go back for it, and it was too late. AWESOME!!!

I didn't start over though, I just deleted the save and never touched it again.

  6. Eternal darkness, I was clipping along till i hit the point witht he canadian firefighter where you have to posess the giant monster to break the force field, unfortunatly i ahd not caught the reference with the small dog bit,and hadnt got the rune needed to complete that spell, so i was fucked, havent been able to bring myself to go through agian, the game is great, but that was just sloppy and ticked me off.

That happened to me too. what an oversight on the part of the developers.

Luckilly i had purchased a gameshark to play import games, and it had a code to add in any item you wanted into your inventory.

Not that it mattered much, as I didn't play much farther than that part. i still haven't completed an RE game despite owning them all. Code Veronica was probably the best though.

Same for me Plus CVs random jumps between characters left my poor Claire without much of weapons due to Criss having those at the moment, so I ended up fighting Alexia with the knife. I hated those sudden character changes. But second play through, it was better.

Also - Drakan Ancient Gate on PS was ruined for me because of one fucking bug that developers left in the game. Later in the game, you got to travel through a cave to reach a thundra region on the other side. Since your dragon never could fit in the cave, and just hanged around while I usually explored inside, I went alone, and once I reached the other side, went down the mountain. About hour later, I found the save point and saved. I wish I knew that there are NO WAY to get back to the entrance of the cave without the Dragon, and since my Dragon was left on the other side of the cave I was SCREWED. There were NO indication that your dragon should go into the cave with you, and since he never did, how the hell should I known to bring him in with me.

It totally ruined the game for me(since it was the only save file I had)

The long sequence in the city of the Ancients that you had to do twice, with different characters, dissapointed me quite a bit. Also the lack of enemy varieties(sorry but they were just not exciting), recharging magic that made fights too easy.

  9. I saved at the end of Final Fantasy 9 with no healing supplies and real beat up party, tried over and over again to get out of the final area but kept getting caught in random battles...basically stopped me from playing it ever again.

  10. Learning that you could play as Sylvia during Viewtiful joe.

Also knowing the ending of FFX 2 days before getting it, damn you friends!!!

Mega Man 4, got pretty far, in respective orders, i remember, ring, pharoah, bright , dust, drill toadman and had the other two left, saved the pass on a tiny book i always left next to the NES until one day i came home from school and found everything on the ground torn in pieces, my 2 yr old sister destroyed it. Had to start all over, but at least this time i had a plan on who to beat first. That didn't really ruin it for me, but i got pretty pissed off.
