Thread: Double Dragon Advance

  1. Mega Drive Double Dragon

    From IGN:
The developers have also incorporated more technique to the gameplay; players can dash run by double tapping the controller in a specific direction, as well as use the L trigger to attempt to block any attack coming in from the front.

The GBA game features single player as well as link up mode so that the two main characters can cooperate and brawl together, but each player will need their own copy of the game. There is also a Survival Mode where players try to beat up as many bad guys using only one life bar. Unique to the GBA game is an original single player mode where the player controls both characters at the same time. It's an exercise in character management as players will have to constantly flipflop between the two leads using the Select button. The character that's not being controlled will stand around like a goof, so if a bad guy's hammering down on him, the player will have to switch over to him to move him out of harm's way.

    wooooo!!!!!!!!!

anyways, i really liked the counters in Super Double Dragon, so it's nice to see that well, it seems like they're making their way back.

IGN also has some streams. check them out here

  2. damn that's nice. the guys in the black suits look awesome.

Well Burnov is in. I'm going to assume all the DD2 characters made it in then. The graphics great. That one screen with the suited characters on top of the truck just screams Super DD and is very out of place so I'm assuming it's from the new mode. Looks like we have cut-scenes too. The addition of running is, whatever, and the block won't be anything special unless it allows you to counter ala SuperDD(Let's hope). I'm now in insane anticipation mode. Theres gameplay movies at IGN also(Non-insider).

  4. ok, just checked out the movies. some of the animations suck, but you get used to it very fast.

the music suprisingly is better then i expected. all the classic stuff, and above your average GBA quality sound. there is some GBA quality sound in there, but over all it's good. i can't really complain, especially for a GBA game. music tends to not be as good as it should be. music sounds a lot more like the arcade than the NES. some parts are different, but it's good over all.

oh, there's also a good amount of characters on screen for the most part, no slowdown like the arcade of NES either.

can't wait to see Johnny Undaunted get his ass in here.

  5. Xbox 360 I

    Ok watched a couple movies.

Animation is fine imo. Bout the same as the arcade, and better in certain ways. The music seems to be more in line with the arcade version though less tinny. The sound effects are very pleasureable(A big deal to me since it makes beating people down feel great). There seems to be cutscenes between each level which contain decent artwork(Crying Abobo!?). And Billy has adopted his Super DD Bruce Lee/Kenshiro stance. Good stuff.

  6. Now THIS is how you do a remake. I'm amazed at how good the characters look, way better than in Battletoads and DD on the SNES, which was the benchmark I was setting for it.

  7. Billy's hairstyle looks about 20 years out of date. Kinda adds to the game's retro feel, I guess.

  8. Amazingl! It's even better than imagined!! I wonder who those Smith-looking dudes are (looks we will be seeing new characters after all). I also see Jimmy using Chin's sticks in one of those shots. And then there's what looks to be the final boss from the NES DD2 (Willy's here too BTW). The game looks almost like a cross between the Arcade originals and Super DD. You even get the dash from DD3.

I'm so gonna a GBP for this (the GBA's tiny screen won't do justice)!

  9. i hate streaming videos.

*cool game, though.. i'll definitely pick this one up.
