Thread: Double Dragon Advance

  1. It's been forever since I've played DD, but this game rocks. It's a very satisfying feeling beating the crap out of thugs. I think todays brawlers/hacknslashes miss something critical: the meaty sound of bashing someone that the old-school brawlers had. What's everyone's favorite weapon? Nunchuks are cool, but the double kali sticks are awesome. Btw, check out the poster at the very end of the Chinatown level

Aye. I think the pic on the back of the truck is Bruce as well.

Also, after beating the game I was given the code for BGM test:

Go to the option menu and hold select. Then input R,L,R,L. Now you can listen to all the music whenever you want. The new semi-final-end-boss song Fight of Fate is slick.

I dunno if beating the game on easy or hard will give you different codes.

  3. Beating hard mode gives you a code for expert mode:

In options, while holding select, press up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right.

I wonder if expert mode gives you anything.

Expert mode gives you a code to have 10 credits(Why, I dunno since you already went through hell to beat expert mode).

I posted all the codes and info regarding them at gamefaqs. here's the thread:

While beating expert mode gave me a great feeling of accomplishment, I don't think I'll be doing that again unless it actually gets to the point where hard mode is too easy. I really wish this game would save your score. =/

  5. Finally! Got mine today. Brings back so much memories of when I first played the original Arcade game or when I first got DD2 for the NES. What else is there to say? Definitely a must-have for fans of the series. I liked how they included some of the enemies from DD2 (except oddly enough, Abore) and the new weapons (Kali Sticks and Nunchuks) rules. Final Fight One has nothing on Double Dragon Advance. Now I'm gonna try to one-credit this.

I don't. Since you get points for every attack that connects, getting high scores would devolve into milking every enemy to the point of running out of time. Not fun.

Maybe expert mode is so hard that it wouldn't come to that? I've only played up to hard.

  7. I just wanted to chime in & say that this is probably my favorite GBA of the year so far. The music brings back so many memories.

I was wondering if anyone had found any more advanced juggles. So far all I have found is:

After the uppercut finisher at the end of the three hit punch combo, the uppercut from a crouch, & the up+kick finisher in the head grab, you can do a jump kick or a headbutt for an additional hit. You can also do the rising knee, but the timing on it is too tricky for me to pull it off every time.

Are there any other moves that launch? Are there any other moves that can connect after a launch?

    JM

It could work fine, they'd just need to make 2 changes. Reset your score if you use a continue, and have different score tables for difficulty as expert mode would get you the most possible(I swear, it takes forever to kill half the goons on expert).

There is always survival, though the uppercut+headbutt makes it very easy so I try not to use that.

Just got this game on Monday in the mail, it's $9.99 at Amazon.com.

It's amazing, I don't know why I skipped over it for so long.
