Nintendo set to unveil new console at E3 next year

"Nintendo's executive director Jinyou Mori clarified that the new product will be a unique item that is different from any traditional machine. "We hope to present a new product in America's expo [E3] next year, which will be completely different from the traditional [machines]. We hope we can release it within the year in Japan", said Mori. "It would be ideal if we can release it simultaneously overseas". When asked if the product was going to be a home console or a portable machine, Mori commented that it will be neither. "

It's the Nintendo Game Engine, a TIVO-type all-in-one (like the PSX). Less than $800 for the system. Half the levels in all new GC and GBA games will be locked, and you'll need a Game Engine and cable to unlock them.

Yes, it is too soon to be unveiling the "N-Five". The GameCube is hitting its stride right now- with games like F-Zero GX, Shikigami no Shiro 2, Viewtiful Joe, etc.

But anyway, given that that's a misunderstanding- what the hell could Nintendo's new gizmo possibly be?
