*waits for PC playing haters*
I'm skeptical about this one. I played it a bunch on PC, and I'm not sure yet if they helped the game or hurt it. I'm trying to keep an open mind until somebody on these here boards plays it and posts impressions.
This much-anticipated, half-a-decade-old, fan-created PC game finally gets released today. Not surprsingly, reviews vary: Gamespot, for example, doesn't find it offering much over and above the PC incarnations, not to mention its smaller (and reportedly jerkier) scale; Gamespy, on the other hand, is considerably more effusive in its praise, citing much-improved graphics, a sharp interface, and excellent play.
I'm sure the game will sell well enough, and I'm equally sure that some significant percentage of the the PC-faithful will groan over (1) the smaller scale matches; (2) the lack of m/kb; and perhaps mostly (3) the fact that something that was exclusively "theirs" isn't any longer, therefore it must be trashed and ultimately dismissed.
Counter-Strike isn't high on my list, but I'm tempted to pick this up, mainly because Rainbow Six 3 has whetted my appetite for short, bloody team combat matches. Also, I'm protected by ignorance, having not played the PC revs to death.
Hopefully, the game will entertain on its own merits, and hopefully the trend of teaming up with other TNLers will continue.

I have played this game way too much on the PC. I simply could not play this with a pad... although the voice communication is something I have wanted in CounterStrike from day one.
And yes, I know CS has voice support built in but the only people who use it are nerds who go AHHHH! and HELPPPPP MEEEE! It's beyond useless on the PC.
I used to play CS all the time ever since Beta 2 but all the cheaters and assholes kinda turned me off to the game. I don't know if this can top Rainbow 6 but the idea of a quick pick up and play CS is appealing. It sucks that the single player is so lacking but I hope that the downloadables would be decent like new levels, weapons, models, modes, etc. I'll wait for some TNL impressions.
I found a pretty decent review over at team xbox:

I used to play it now and then at work (shh..don't tell), but I don't have it at home. But I do have a great PC and Xbox Live. I'd get the Xbox one only if people I knew were going to play as well.
Although, video I've seen shows the Xbox CS looking really nice. So how is it scaled-down?
Just ordered it through the retail site, so I should have it by either Saturday or Monday.

Same here, just put in my order at the retail site for this & PG Racing 2. I may check CS out from work before then, just to give some impressions.
