Warp Pipe

The Warp Pipe beta is out. Download it at the above link. You will find some information about Warp Pipe and links to their official documentation. Let's get started!

Step 1: Post your bandwidth and games.
Step 2: Get your Cube, PC and network setup to play online.
Step 3: Challenge your opponents!

Post your bandwidth and games
Go to Broadband Reports to take a bandwidth test, then report the results here.

For instance, my bandwidth on my cable connection is about 1900 kbps downstream / 361 kbps upstream. "Downstream" is your download speed, while "upstream" is your upload speed. This is useful in estimating how well Warp Pipe will work for your system.

As for LAN-enabled games, there are two at this point: Kirby's Air Ride and MK: DD. 1080 Snowboarding will hit soon. Post the games you have along with your bandwidth.

A Note on Routers
Remember, if you are behind a router you will probably have to forward port 4000 to the IP of your computer. This is the communications port Warp Pipe uses to talk to other Warp Pipe clients.

Challenge Your Opponents
For the current version of Warp Pipe, you will have to trade IP addresses. Since making your IP address publicly known isn't such a hot idea, please don't post them here. I suggest you trade IP addresses via IM/PM when you want to play against someone.

I got this while downloading some other stuff on bit torrent so tomorrow ill do a not downloading/uploading anything test

I'm on dial-up and it says I have an upload speed of 322k.

Dowload of 22k sounds right, but apparantly I'm an uploading demon.

This won't work for dialup. Forget it.

I just played PV. I'm in Houston and he's in New Jersey. The game was about 3/4 speed. That's due to lag, primarily. I couldn't figure out what his ping time was though.

What is considered a "good" upload speed? The broadband test has my connection at 3179 download but only 365 upload. Is that upload speed about average for cable or should i be getting faster speeds?

okay, so how do I use this? I know you can either connect to an ip or listen for other people trying to connect, but how do you even know anyone from anyone in the first place?

I was just saying that maybe that lil' speed check applet isn't all that it's cracked up to be? Unless maybe I can upload 300k a second.

Well, it wasn't meant for dial-up users, so it's probably not optimized for that.

For starters, I'm majoring in art, so usually finals involves projects.

And, I'm happy to be taking tests because for the past month, all I've been doing is writing papers.
