Thread: Radica's Game Changer: Good Idea, or Completely Pointless?

  1. Radica's Game Changer: Good Idea, or Completely Pointless?

Interesting little gadget... one that I'm not sure whether or not a thread was made about, so here's a fresh one. Allows one to store three carts in the back of an SP and switch between them at will when the system's off. I personally don't trust too many 3rd party accessories, but this one has some cool applications...
Does anyone have any hands-on impressions?

  2. My biggest problem with this is that it won't fit in my SP case. Other than that...it looks to be interesting, especially if it improves the grip.

  3. I took the plunge tonight.

The unit seems to be well built, and it adds a good deal of bulk to the SP, making it more comfortable to hold. One game inserts completely into each of the two sides, and the third sticks out of the top of the unit, behind the open SP screen. This top slot easily accomodates larger GB/C games and even the e-Reader - actually, the e-Reader is actually a lot more comfortable with this unit than with the SP alone. All of the SP switches and ports are accessible when it's attached, save for power which is controlled mechanically by the Changer.

All in all, it's a good product, though I like the improved grip more than the game changing feature. The only drawback is the size, but you're going to deal with that with any device that makes the SP more comfortable for human sized hands.

  4. Oh, and it's less than $10 at Wal-Mart.

  5. Yeah but at walmart they don't take your phone number for that courtesy call.

  6. I really dislike places that ask for your phone number. I noticed that Toy R Us started that now. I don't give 'em attitude about it, but people must, because the associate at Toys just seemed totally scared to asked.

  7. One of my friends actually bought the thing because he's so lazy. It's suprisingly lighter then it appears it shoulds be. It adds a little more bulk to the system then I like to have, but he's got big hands and appreciates the bulk. As for quality, it does what it's supposed to do. One feature I appreciated; the changer locks the game selection button once the gameboy is powered up. You can't move that switch unless you're going out of your way to try to do so (I personally could not budge the switch). If you feel like you need a device that lets you have three games hooked into your gameboy at once to avoid loose carts ny all means it is worth the ten bucks.
This is MY world, I just let you all live in it.

    I love babelfish.

I worked there, and yea, people really do flip out. The ONLY reason they take it, is because it goes into the main computer, and they use your phone number to see where the majority of their customers are coming from in that area. They also run some promotion or something where 100 randomly selected people win gift certificates or something, but I never heard of anyone actually winning.

One older lady, who was not in the right state of mind, thought I took the number to call her for some sex, or something, because as she was leaving she said "I can't wait to hear from you, you took my number, I'll be waiting all alone for you". Too bad she was rather unattractive and looked cracked out.

The best thing to do when someone at the register asks for a number is to give them one, any one, and then ask for theirs and wink. It'll creep almost anybody out, regardless of age or sex. However, when the creepy bald guy with the really thick glasses mans the register at TRU, I never feel like trying it. Go figure.

I need to pick one of these up, if the added size is tolerable. For <$10, I think I can afford to experiment. I'm one of the few people I know that likes GBASP as-is... I think it's a good size, but I also have small hands. Regardless, I prefer the feel of the old GBA, but I don't mind GBASP. What I do mind is when I want to play Tetris DX, and I can't stand the grip with this giant cartridge protruding from the bottom. If I can put it in the top slot and play, I might learn to live with the added bulk of this thing. It's a cool idea, but I guess its practicality would vary from person to person.
