Thread: Best Enemy

  1. Yuck Best Enemy

Who do you think is the best or worst enemy ever, the person who made you throw your control at the TV or who made you cry in laughter WELL?

Does anybody remember Melfice from Grandia 2? The game had a bad habit of displacing all of it's difficulty to the boss fights anyway, but the fight with Melfice was just ridiculous. He had only three parts to him, but each one was equally annoying. His horns of valmar move was really, REALLY a bitch. I probably died at this guy 6 or 7 times.

Yu Yevon from Final Fantasy X was by far the biggest joke of a final boss I've ever seen. I KNOW that Jecht is considered to be the "real" boss since, you know, you can actually DIE. But as for Yevon, just what the hell were the designers trying to prove?

  3. The devils (Red Arremers?) in the last level of G&G and SuperG&G were difficult at best, when dealing with all the other enemies thown in it takes a bit of luck to get to Loki. When you almost make it to the next section they swoop down and end it all.

I liked the concept of Yevon. It's a shame it's susceptible to some potentially super-easy status ailments, but the idea is cool in sort of an abstract way. The real bosses are all the specialty monsters from the Arena though.

On topic to a degree...Nightmare in DMC hard mode was a huge hassle, and speaking of FFX, the tasks you needed to complete to gain pretty much any cool items were all pure evil (the lightning dodging and butterfly catching were especially painful).

  5. Ratchet from the Evil Mecha 5! She was adorable...

Dolemite, the Bad-Ass King of all Pimps and Hustlers
Gymkata: I mean look at da lil playah woblin his way into our hearts in the sig awwwwwww

  6. The Gordats from Guardian Heroes are the funniest things ever. OMG sweat damage!

I agree with you on both the item fetching in FFX and the Calm Lands monster creation side quest. That part ALONE took me about as long as it took to beat the game (50 or so hours) but it was worth seeing Yuna dishing out 99999 damage with her staff. In the end, FFX is the only one in the series I never really went back to play a second time, not if I wanted to spend another 130 hours on it.

Yevon HIMSELF only had two moves, and let's not forget that you can't actually die. You have "Life 3" permanetly cast on your party from the beginning of your fight with the Aeons til the very end. It's really pretty and all, but I found myself wanting much more of a challenge (considering past FF's usually provide at LEAST one or two more forms of a final boss -- see FF8)

Last but not least, Necron is also the most ridiculous boss I've ever seen. He came out of NOWHERE, and he looks like one big, shiny blue Oscar award.

the classic "SNK fighting game boss", of them: KOF94 Rugal and SS2's Mizuki were fuggin insane.

And not a hard boss, but badass all the way, KOF97 Orochi.
