Thread: Front Mission X

  1. Front Mission X

So, I just got Front Mission 3 today for $14, and I was just wondering what the general concensus was concerning this series, but more specifically, the volume I picked up.

I checked out some of the other Front Mission threads (all Front Mission 1st/4 threads, by the way), and people seem to like it well enough.

So, talk about it, I guess. I have no experience with the series thus far, so a bit of schooling might be in order, but I love the way Front Mission 4 is gearing up (get it? Gearing? Like a Gear, as in "Mech?" HAH!), so I figured I should get at least one game under my belt before buying into this next installment (the only domestic release, as far as I know.)

So, let the schooling, happyness, seething hatred, or any other such actions commence!

  2. One of my fave psone games.

    Awesomeness.

Don't let the graphics put you off, and hopefully we get the next game in the series released here.

    If not, I'll cry.

    Seriously.

  3. It's long. Long. Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong. Epic length. And then you realize there are two scenarios, both of the same rediculous length.

Also, I can't believe they included a custom built internet.

One of the coolest mini-games in a game ever I might add.

    And methane power wanzers!

The battle system and mechs are awesome.

But Buyer Beware! The characters are complete and total pieces of shit, and you will end up hating all of them. The translation is quite odd, IIRC, and all the characters remind me of a piece of cardboard.

Espically the male lead, who bitches about everything and always wants to fight.

So, let me get this straight: Fart powered wanzers? That is the single best game concept I've ever heard of! Why didn't I think of it?!

Is there some way I can just skip every cutscene and just battle?

There might have been some way I can skip all that hideous dialog, but it's been a long time. The customization and gameplay are awesome, though.

You will learn to hate this surfer guy, with all your life, and his friend who is always screaming.

  9. I didn't really mind the characters...

  10. I'm not really having a problem with the characters, either.

Probably because I've figured that the portrait shown for each reply isn't necessarily the emotion with which you should read the words.

The protag yells often, but it's usually only for a line or two. If you read some of his entire blocks of text with an angry tone, it's just silly. Don't read the lines based solely on the portraits, otherwise I can see the dialogue getting out of hand really quick.

P.S. I hate this new look.
