Speed limit? Ha ha ha ha ha

Seriously though I have one rule in driving: Do not put others in danger.

Basically, I don't cut people off, I don't speed in residential areas, and I'm pretty calm if I have a passenger. But if the road conditions permit it, I FLOOR IT.

I love speed. Plain and simple. The adrenaline rush is incredible. It's not just going 100+ MPH, but taking windy roads at lower speeds and hitting the curves JUST perfectly (at 60 mph no less) is great.

In the city though, I will actually drive below the speed limit in heavy residential areas, there are kids everywhere. I'll do around 45 on some of the major city roads where there aren't any pedestrians. If I'm on country roads, I tend to go fairly fast, around 60 or so unless there are places for cops to hide around.

For the record, I've only had one ticket, which was for 45 in a 35 (shit!) and I've never had an accident when I was behind the wheel.

  3. I used to try gunning 75 on the freeways, now that I've seen enough cops round the area I had to cut down on it. I'm starting to have fun blocking off speeders I see coming from the back when I'm side to side (with auto) with a semi. Never fails to piss people off!

  4. Having my daughter in the car, I never go over 60. I never drive over 65 anyway so it's not a problem for me. If someone doesn't like it, screw them. They can pass me. I'm not going to endanger my family to please some speed freak.

  5. I nearly always speed. It's a bad habit. But on the highway, on the left lanes, it's usually going 75 or 80 (65 limit) so I'm going around that kind of speed. I have been known to go a time in triple digits on long straight highways like the 5 from SF to LA.

City streets I won't speed as much, but sometimes I'm speeding before I even catch myself.

I have a hard time keeping to limit in Canada where my family lives though. Apart from the MPH/KPH differences, their speed limits are horribly low. Like the speed limit on some highway I was on was like the equivalent of 40 mph. Crazy. With cars with good horsepower, it takes a lot of effort and concentration just staying 10kph above limit, let alone under it.

In any case, I'm a very firm believer in going faster than the lane to your right being safer than following the speed limit.

  6. If you're driving slower than me, get off the damn road and move out of my way! Piss me off enough, and you'll get cut off with my Fix Or Repair Daily (what do I got to lose? its beat up as it is). My top speed on my hooptie is 85mph. So I usually go 65-75, depending on traffic.

  7. I love to see asshats speeding and swerving in between cars on non highway roads to get a few car lengths ahead and a couple miles up road I pull up right beside them at the light. I laugh my ass off every time.

  8. I got my first ticket a few months ago for doing 84mph, 14 over the limit. I generally only do around 75 nowadays. The only highways I drive on anyway are I-75, I-4, and I-275, where the limit is usually between 60 and 70. JMET, you mentioned I-4. Where are you?

You know, people buy guns specifically to deal with people like you...

Anyway, I go 80mph on the highway (65mph speed limit). In my hometown, the cops can be real pricks, so I usually take it easy.

BTW, the left lane is for PASSING!!! Anyone who can't understand that deserves full retribrution.

Do these people not give a shit, do they really need to get to that light so quick just to get there and sit while I slowly come up behind them and sit for 60 seconds less then they did.

What is the rule that says if someone is behind you that they must pass you as if to prove that they are faster then you are.
You and I are the same.
