Thread: Does anyone drive the speed limit anymore?

Great way to cause an accident (unless your in the right lane and not blocking the passing lane).

  2. Well, half the time I have to speed up because the guy next to me decided to match my pace and of course, I'm always off the pedal (I love cruise control). Usually it's not a problem, but if I'm not going 10 miles faster then the guy on my right chances are 5 to 1 he's gonna push on the pedal.

Unless its in a residential area, then I try to do 50 above.

    Fuck the kids.
So I forced my hands in my pockets and felt with my thumbs and gallantly handed her my very last piece of gum.

  4. I do 80 - 90 on I-59 at night sometimes. In a Geo no less.
    o_O

  5. The whole speed limit thing is retarded in its current form. Getting a ticket isn't about how fast you are going, its about how big of a prick the cop is. They should raise the "limit" by 10 MPH and stand firm on it instead of letting the cops make the limits up as they wish.

As for me, I always go 10 above the limit, unless Im not familiar with the road. I've never once gotten pulled over or into an accident.

That would work great except for cities like Minneapolis, land of the left lane exit.

  7. Minneapolis is hell if you don't know the highways very well. You either have to be in the correct lane to turn, otherwise you could end up taking over a half-hour in some places trying to get back to where you were going. In fact, I was cut off from the airport route and I wasted as much time just trying to get back.

  8. I drive the speed limit and I drive a bit slower in rain/snow/heavy wind/etc. The only time I'll go over the speed limit (no more than 5mph) is if I'm really late. I block the people who are speeding on roads (not the freeways) if I can. People who speed shouldn't be allowed to drive. People who don't understand/remember how stop signs at intersections work shouldn't be allowed to drive. People who cannot get onto the highway at the speed of traffic shouldn't be allowed to drive. People who are too timid to merge shouldn't be allowed to drive.

What really ticks me off out here in CA; I give these idiots so much damned room to merge and they never do. Or, they are really hesitant so I leave like two car lengths behind them. Of course, as soon as they get into the actual lane, I speed up drastically and they brake. Nobody in front of them most of the time, but they see me coming up behind them quickly and they're so timid that their first reaction is to hit the brakes. Fucking pansies. You know there was this big suit against Audi because the people were complaining that the brakes were shitty. Come to find out that the idiots driving them were stepping on the gas and thinking they were stepping on the brake. Morons.

Women who breast-feed their children while driving shouldn't be allowed to drive, either.

  9. I'll usually go within 5 miles of the speed limit. What chafes is when I'm doing 70 in a 65 zone and someone tailgates me. If you don't like it, pass me. Maybe I'll be back there laughing at your ass when the sheriff pulls you over and not me.

Another thing that steals my goat is when it's raining lightly and motorists get all chicken shit, slowing down to 5 below. Come on, the pavement is not wet enough to hydroplane you. Just go the speed limit. If it were pouring with a capital P, I think I could understand.

I have no desire to deal with a potentially jackass cop. In case of such a situation, I'd turn the radio off immediately for one thing. If he doesn't like your music- BAM! You have a ticket.

If you don't have a badge, you shouldn't play cop. Get out of their way, and let them pass. Just imagine how poorly they drive when they're pissed.
