Thread: Take Two Games modifies GTA: Vice City to remove offensive dialog against Haitians

  1. Puyo Take Two Games modifies GTA: Vice City to remove offensive dialog against Haitians

Take Two Games, developers of the infamous Grand Theft Auto series, have agreed tuesday to replace some offensive dialogue in future copies of their hit game, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

"This game teaches hate and violence, and it has no place in our society," said Jean-Robert Lafortune, chairman of the Miami-based Haitian-American Grassroots Coalition. Many other people, including other Haitian Americans and even NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg (who has cited it as a "incitement to genocide"), have repeatedly denounced the game due to its content.

"We are aware of the hurt and anger in the Haitian community and have listened to the community's objections to certain statements made in the game," the company (Take Two Games) said in a statement. "Accordingly, we will remove the objectionable statements from future copies."

The dialog in question is with regard to the directions of a mission wherein you have to snipe multiple Haitian gang members fighting with Cuban gang members.

  2. In other news, they are removing anti African American dialogue from movies such as American History X, and anti Alien dialogue from such films as Aliens and ID4.

In addition, any lifelike portrayal of a place or state of mind that could by chance offend ANYBODY is going to be changed so as not to offend, especially in History class.

Lastly, whenever somebody is arrested, and shown on TV, they will be airbrushed to look like the Pillsbury Dough boy so as not to offend anyone. Except Pillsbury.

  3. Hell, by this retarded logic they should ban the book Huck Finn from schools again because of its use of the word nigger. God forbid people paint a realistic picture of a time or place for the sake of plot and setting...

  4. that's the least of the Haitians' problems.

  5. Take Two Games, developers of the infamous Grand Theft Auto series, have agreed tuesday to not bother fixing glitches in future copies of their hit game, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

"This game teaches hate and violence, or at least it would if it would stop crashing," said Jean-Robert Lafortune, chairman of the Miami-based Haitian-American Grassroots Coalition. Many other people, including other Haitian Americans and even NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg (who has cited it as a "incitement to sloppiness"), have repeatedly denounced the game due to its lack of stability.

"We are aware of the hurt and anger in the gamer community and have decided to not listen to the community's objections to our poor attempts at finished code," the company (Take Two Games) said in a statement. "Accordingly, we will make sure to leave the glitches in any updated future copies."

  6. Very clever.

  7. Do I have to bring up how the Irish have been mocked for decades-centuries, and all we do is laugh and move on with our lives? What a bunch of morons. I have no respect for people like that. At all. Now, if someone depicted as CEO of RockStar walked out in the game and said something along the lines of "All Hatians should be shot! Worthless they be!" I'd say they had a point.

...but now I've gotta do what I did when I heard that the original GTA III was banned (Old rumor on these very boards! OMGWTF) and buy the damn thing so I can laugh at what these people found to be "offensive."

Anyway, the original version is sure to become RARE and HTF!!!!

There are still places where that is done. I took a banned books class a while back, damn good four credits.
I knew he was a commie, cause he didn't drink [duff] beer.
