Thread: Party Games

  1. Yeah, I would have to agree that Amplitude is a great party game. Even if only one person is playing, great to watch. The problem comes that some people are going to be way better then others, unless you play it all the time, which we do.

How can it be a drinking game though...that seems hard. However, playing the game on easy is hard when you are not intoxicated, and we had to be stoned to beat it. Too damn slow.

  2. Odd, my friends loved Beach Spikers too.

    Other recommendations:
Double Dash - This is pretty much all anyone wants to play anymore. I know plenty of people have recommended it already, but it bears repeating.

Timesplitters 2 - This was the most popular game with my friends before Double Dash.

NHL Hitz 2003 - I know you said no traditional sports games, but this is far from traditional and it's a lot of fun. Very arcadey, a lot of checking, fights and goals.

Sega Soccer Slam - Basically the same thing as Hitz.

Wave Race: Blue Storm - My friends are all pretty casual and they couldn't get into it but I bet if you could convince your friends to give it some time it would be a lot of fun.

    Cheers to that.

when it comes to high level play, Blue Storm is no joke. this game is really fuckin fun when you're playing against people that know what they're doing.

  5. Chu Chu Rocket (Dreamcast)
    Devil Dice (Playstation)
    Mario Kart: Double Dash (Gamecube)
    Power Stone 2 (Dreamcast)
    Virtua Tennis 2 (Dreamcast)

Good thing you mentioned this one. I and a couple other people were at a friend's house a few weeks ago, when he suddenly popped this game into his X-Box. We didn't play the main hockey game at all, but rather spent over an hour on just the mini-games. They have some really, really surprisingly fun mini-games in there, with the same "pick up and play" flair as Super Monkey Ball mini-games. (BTW, we tend to play Super Monkey Ball mini-games a lot with this group, that's another one I should have mentioned, but I think others already have anyway.)

If you're not really into sports games, then at least give it a rental next time you and the gang have a get-together. If you dig Super Monkey Ball mini-games, then this game is definitely worth your time.

BTW, if you're going to do this, you need NHL Hitz 2003. I was bummed to hear that Midway's newest hockey game, NHL Hitz Pro, doesn't have the mini-games. Too bad, because they probably would've been enormously fun with online play.

  7. XBOX:
Deathrow (<-- my friends and I have so much fun with this)
    Fuzion Frenzy
    Kung Fu Chaos
    Whacked!

    PS2:
    TimeSplitters 2
Gauntlet Dark Legacy (I guess this and TS2 can be on XBox too, but Ihave the PS2 versions)
Smackdown (anyone, but the newest is by far the best... great for 6 player gaming)
ATV Offroad Fury 2 (the Hockey Minigame is worth it alone)

    PSX:
    Crash Bash
    Bomberman: Party Edition
    Worms World Party
Hogs of War (not quite as pick up and play, but it's fun)

  8. Ooga Booga for the DC is an awsome party game, often overlooked.

    Great theme, characters, and maps.

Chu-Chu and multi box halo are also the shiznit.
