Thread: Zero Tolerance or Zero Intelligence?

  1. Zero Tolerance or Zero Intelligence?

I'd heard stories about the zero tolerance policies in schools in regards to drugs and weapons before but more and more lately, I hear stories like these creeping out (I know, I know, Foxnews, see your grocery store for your personal serving of salt)

Expelled for Advil? Drawing a picture of a gun? Way to go guys.

Granted, I don't see any numbers about how gun or drug incidents have been affected by these policies yet, all we hear about are the slip ups. But there has to be enough collective common sense in these school districts to realize that somebody who draws a picture of a gun isn't any more likely to grow up to be a terrorist than the kid playing with jacks.

Anybody here got "zero-tolerance" policies in their schools?

*insert witty comment about having a zero tolerance policy about school here*

  2. Wow - damn thats out of control. Ive never heard of any of these.I think these school officials are being way to aggressive on this issue. I mean Advil, come on - the key word here is "illegal drugs". I honestly dont see how any of these can hold up in any sort of school board - seriously if I was one of the parents of a son who was taken away in handcuffs for DRAWING A PICTURE of a gun or a son who was SUSPENDED for having a toe nail clipper hanging from his belt - I would go on a rampage --- literally >>>>

  3. My opinion: zero tolerance is what stupid people use as a substitute for good judgement.

    That is all.
For a dark man shall come unto the House of God, and the darkness shall be upon him, yea, even within him.

  4. We never had a zero tolerance policy when I was in school. It went into effect about a year after I finished. Thankfully.

damn strate.. thats what im talkin bout..

  6. It's crap like this that is why my future children will go to school in Canada.

  7. My HS went to hell after I graduated. They have lock downs where K-9 units check for drugs. WTF. I drew a sick gun during a class in college. Drew shockwaves from the bullet and "KA-BOOM" in big ass letters. Liked it so much I saved it.

  8. My friend was nearly suspended junior year because he wrote his Counterstrike name, Deathwish69, down on a peice of paper.
    your mom

  9. Seems our so-called government wants to enforce control where it's not hardly welcome. The only thing they're gonna do is educate students to understand the evils in this country are coming from the very system we depend on.

  10. I remember the good ol' days, when I would sit around in elementary school and draw pictures of axe murderers ripping apart entire rooms of people while the teacher read books to us. Can't do that these days. *sigh*
