Thread: If you could have a remake of one game...

  1. NeoZeedeator and Sleeveboy: Perfect recommendations. I've always been complaining about despite how much I love Burning Rangers (I almost cried when I had rescued all but one person and lost my save file... one Sonic Team member left!) it's a damned ugly game. Some horrible clipping, bad draw distance, and wierd graphical oddities mar the experience. Even a straight port to new hardware with a completely redone graphics engine would improve that game so much it isn't even funny. I want it! I want it! I want it!

And Shadowrun with a large city like that would rock. Of course, considering that GTA3 is just streets, I wonder how long it'd take them to create something similar with insides of buildings as well.

Burning Rangers is probably at the top of my list, though I'm sure there a few others that'd be fun too.

As for Stretch Panic, my only complaint was I wish Linda would move faster. Levels would be fun, though I had a blast with the boss-fest. Of course, I'm the minority on this matter. Quick question: Anyone know how to exorcise Demonica? I'm trying to pull that off on her, but the best I can do is hurt her really bad...

  2. Ye Gods of Gamedom, deliver me a remake of FF3, and I will....um...do something. Yeah, I would love to see FF3 remade on some hardware that could turn it into the visual fest I could never imagine. I mean, you get those teases like the N64 FF game demo, or the CGI in the PSX version, and it just kills me. I want to see my old friends from this game more than any other given a larger than life treatment.

  3. I'm with Johnny's pick, NiGHTS. When I saw this topic, it was the first game that popped into my mind.

    60 fps, hi-res, shadow/lighting effects, no clipping....mmmmmm, yummy.

  4. Nights. All the way - Maybe a Target Earth that isn't too hard and Cyborg Hunter.

I know you all know about the dozens of NES, Gen, SMS, and Turbo16 games that haven't seen sequels or updates since their releases decades ago.

So why is naerly everyone saying the same couple of titles?

    Perfect Dark? Get Halo. Christ.

  6. yeah NiGHTS is high on that list for me too. But generally I'd say pretty much any of those rushed Sega games that, as good as they were, could have been SO much better if they weren't rushed (Saturn Daytona, NiGHTS, Burning Rangers, DC Sega Rally 2, Virtua Fighter...hey I like the clean look of the flat shading, Saturn Virtua Racing which shoulda been done by Sega and arcade perfect at 60fps maybe, DC VF3). Also, pretty much any decent N64 game...they could all benefit from a clean, unfuzzy high resolution, no fog, and 60fps action. And I can't help but think how much better Rogue Leader would have been if it hadn't been rushed...constant 60fps gameplay woulda been nice...

  7. Off the top of my head, Shadowrun (SNES). I can't say enough how much I loved this game. It was (and remains) completely different than any RPG as far as theme and ovarall style that I have ever played.

  8. Metal Gear 1 & 2 - These done like Metal Gear Solid 2 3D graphics... but alot less cut scenes please

Final Fantasy VII - after seeing the new Cloud model in Kingdom Hearts I want this one more then ever.

Castlevania II: Simons Quest - remake this with all new high res beautiful 2D graphics and new characters, one of my favorite Castlevania games on NES

Bionic Commando - this would be really cool.

Legend of Zelda and the Adventure of Link - sure there are rumors about Zelda, but I believe it when I see it

Crystalis - Remake on GameCube ^_^

Ok, that is more then one game... If I had to choose one of those it would probably be Metal Gear.

Right - Perfect Dark was anything but ahead of it's time... I like Halo for its expanse and vehicles... but it's not exactly ahead of it's time either.

What you're saying is exactly why I want a new Target Earth or Cyborg Hunter - but being more realistic - the prospect of a new Nights is realistc and tantalizeing at the same time.

  10. I would be happy if they made an FF6 for every subsequent system, even though it is a perfect game as it is.
Also - how 'bout a sequal to FF Tactics! That was the best Square game between FF7 amd FF10 and it didn't get much publicity....
    oh well...
