Thread: Child's Play...WOW

  1. Uh-oh Child's Play...WOW

Ok guys, I'm sure most of you know about this..but with all the crazy stuff that usually gets posted here and all the crazy opinions & heated arguments...I just thought posting this would really be cool. Have you guys been keeping track of what The guys at Penny Arcade have been doing? I really can't believe that they got all of these toys for these kids. It really brings a tear to my eye.

    Just look at this:

    http://www.penny-arcade.com/childsplay/

They set up this wishlist of like over 300 items, and people bought EVERYTHING. Most times MORE than what they wanted!!! Just look at this:

With all the crazy crap that all of these politicians say about gamers and how bad games are for kids and society...look at what all of us gamers have done!! Why can't stuff like this get national media attention. I have never been so proud to be a geeky thing like a gamer!!!

  2. Hey, I was stacking up toys and making sure little kids got them the other night at the Marine Reserve Unit and these politicians are always saying us Marines are bad:P

I think it's cool that people help out the poor people with things like toys and everything so kids can have a decent Christmas.

  3. Is that their house?

    *raids the garage.

  4. I think the most recent total was around $30,000 worth of toys. Pretty amazing.

  5. thats admirable - i hope someone writes a newstory, no matter how small - and publishes it

  6. Last I checked they topped $100,000 easily and weren't slowing down much. They did a great job on it, and I wish I'd contributed. I tried one evening, but the ordering thing they had set up wasn't working and the FAQ wasn't being any too helpful. By the time I got around to trying again (2 days later) it was over. Ah well, guess I'll just have to do something useful in this neck of the woods.

  7. Toys for Tots is a good thing to contribute to, the Marines run a few of them in my area.

  8. I need a Toys for Tots mega dump... My mother had this Barbie doll collection, we literally now have over a thousand kid friendly (non-collectable) boxed Barbies in our basement. I need to get rid of these, now, and ebay isn't quick enough.

Gotta look for some charity drop-offs around here, and find a cheap U-Haul ^^

  9. I was sorting through about a million Barbies when were putting toys into age groups, we had a row of them and nothing but them. If the boxes are opened or damaged in a way that they are fairly exposed they might not take them though.
