I honestly don't see how keeping someone alive for 40-60 years can be cheeper than killing them.

Ok I didn't consider the appealing factor (must have glazed right over Lobo's post). A person really shouldn't be able to appeal more than once anyway.

I said yes. I'm for the death penalty, and I want to watch him die on Pay Per View. I wasn't thinking about what would be "better", just what I would enjoy more.

And then you should let your children watch and explain why you're killing an evil man, thus continuing on his streak of hate and destruction.

If you kill him and want him executed you don't win, you lose. It's the same mentality that made him a brutal dictator. You may think you're justified, and maybe you are, but I'm sure he had a lot of people around him who thought they were justified to. Put him in jail (the way I say it makes it sound like he'll be in a cell in an old western town in Texas) and let him not harm anybody else for the rest of his days.

Chances are he'll be killed in jail anyway though. But people wanting one more person dead is what causes so much wrong in this world to begin with.

I'm not completely sure, if we don't execute him and he is held in an Iraqi prison he might get out and rule the country again, if he is held in an international prison he may be exiled to some place like many other dictators and live in a big ass house with a swimming pool. I would keep him in a tight level prison I guess, but execution is an option.

Hussein being executed would make him a martyr for whatever sect he was in/running. That just adds to the mess the USA's already in with terrorism.

But isn't it cheaper even if the executees don't appeal? That's what I'd heard. (I'm probably wrong.) At least Mzo came right out with the money excuse. It usually takes a lot of arguing to prove to people that the death penalty is revenge before they spit out the money reason.

As far as the death penalty goes, if we can't kill unborn children that aren't even sentient yet, then we absolutely cannot kill living, sentient beings.

Hussein should rot in a cell somewhere. Torturing him, or doing to him what he did to his people won't bring any of his victims back or assuage the families it happened to. If there were some way to do that, I am an advocate of it. He's a terrible man, and our catching him is hopefully the start of the U.S. correcting its mistakes from the past.

Killing unborn babies is a different deal, they've never done anything and they're being killed because of somebody elses irresponsability. Saddam has commited enough crimes against humanity to merit a just execution in my case. Although as I said before I'm not an advocate for torture, so I say kill him with a lethal injection.

Well I suppose you're correct, but nobody ever says anything when people like Ted Bundy are executed, I personally think they should execute Saddam because too many things could happen to worsen the situation or Saddam could go into exile like I brought up before. Capital punishment is a touchy issue but Saddam has violated international law many times, any other man would be executed.
