I played that thing non stop for days on in, but It played a big part in who I am as a Gamer today.
Just bought a SMS off of Xeno Gigas a week or two ago

And hey, I don't think it's ass, but then again I've only played four games, and only on two. I enjoy it, though.

  2. Ive had one since back in the day and yet to find more then 1-2 games on it that were worth a shit.

What games are you liking so far?

today i played with the intellivision lives! compilation, which i grabbed because i'd only gotten to play intellivision once during the 80s and i wanted to see what was up with it. i find pre-NES gaming less engaging than NES-onward, but i still like a fair amount of classic games.. but it was about as fun as stabbing myself in the face. ugh. i couldn't find a single game that held my interest. even the space invaders clone sucked.
TRON Deadly Discs is still one of the coolest games ever made and worth buying an InTV for. But it's not on the compilation unfortunately.

Here's my general statement to those not impressed by pre-NES gaming. Pre-NES is all about arcade and computer gaming. Consoles were by far the weakest of the three industries back then quality-wise. There are plenty of timeless games from that era, you just won't find most of them on the 2600.

SMS was ass, dont let Nostalgia blind you.
You have major anti-SMS pro-NES biases though.

Columns and R-Type, mostly. The others are on a borrow-basis and I can't play them extensively.

I'm a Columns whore, I can't help but love it no matter how SMALL the area of play is.

  5. SMS games I remember off the top of my head that were defintily worth a shit & a half...

    Rastan
    R-Type
    Alex Kidd in Miracle World
    Golvellius: Valley of Doom
    Double Dragon
    Fantasy Zone
    Fantasy Zone: The Maze
    Columns
    Reggie Jackson Baseball
    Paperboy
    Time Soldiers
Currently Playing: Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster (PC), Let's Build a Zoo (PC) & Despot's Game (PC)

yeah, i quite like classic arcade games, on the other hand. and i still have a soft, nostalgic spot for the games that i actually liked at the time (my first system was a 2600.)

    but, intellivision lives... bleagh.

  7. Most games that I love I didn't discover until years after release. I'm amazed at how much Gradius I've been playing lately.

Not sure its a bias I just never liked the SMS, had them both at the same time and even had a friend that was a hardcore SMS guy that would come over all the time with the latest game.

What makes this even funnier is the fact that I worship all things Sega except the SMS, hell I even bought a Sega-CD at launch.
