Thread: GameSpy's Top 10 Games of 2003

  1. No way Half-Life 2 is gonna have a bitchin' physics engine and kickass AI that takes no prisoners. Plus its gonna have Team Fortress 2, which I have said in the past and I will say again, will be the best game ever.

Half-Life played differently from Counterstrike played differently from Wolfenstein.

When it came to Wind Waker, it was like... "well I cant pass this place becaus eI need the hookshot, so I gotta find a dungeon. And then when I go to the dungeon, which will be some sort of ice/forest/etc. them. I will go through 3/4th of it without the hookshot, but I will stumble upon it soon after I beat the miniboss. Then I will use the hookshot to find the Boss Key. Then I will beat the boss and get the magical McGuffin, eight of which (or whatever number), I need to gather. So once I got this hookshot I will enter that area, and then I will find a spot where I need the boomerang. So I need to find a dungeon... ad nauseum".

Do you understand where Im coming from? I was actually just describing Ocarina of Time. Or wait, was I describing Wind Waker? Or Link to the Past? Or Link's Awakening? Or Age of Seasons? IT DOESNT MATTER! THEYRE ALL LIKE THAT!

And I can find plenty of innovation and fresh ideas... in games not named Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.

  2. so the island fortress was a themed dungeon? by that logic the grandmother's house was just a house themed dungeon. one of the more refreshing elements of wind waker was that it had more of a storyline that you had to progress through, and you got many crucial items outside of the standard item-boss key-boss progressions. and the dungeons were not as constrained to themes as the others, in fact you point out how much you know by mentioning the fire/ice dungeons, as mothe "dungeons" were short caves, with no bosses, no maps or compasses and may have taken 4 minutes a piece. If fact there was no final dungeon per se, which again was a change form the original, jsut a fast progressiontot he final battle. if you had bothered to play long enough, you would have noticed that wind waker broke several of the old zelda steriotypes, but you didnt, so you down the game without the proper knowledge. plus you dont get the hookshot till the second to last area, so again:P. how long did you actually play?

  3. Hmm yea... my friend and I probably put about 15-20 hours in. I just forgot about the order of things and shit. I have a very bad memory when it comes to remembering shitty rehashes. Too much alcohol.

  4. you try so very hard, even when you are wrong.

  9. Warioware can easily be beaten in 30-35 minutes? Does that make it a bad game?

The graphic design is stunning, yes. The bosses and environments are excellent. But the design of the game, the structure of it, and the style of it felt tired. The dungeon design felt old. New graphics over an old environment Ive wandered in a million times.

But, ultimately, Ive played it all before. The game was just Ocarina of Time with beautiful graphics and a shitty water-based overworld. I dont know why you feel the need to come up with a conspiracy theory but there it is.

Im sorry if I want a little bit more out of my videogames than shit Ive played multiple times in the past.
This is exactly how I feel about Wind Waker, except I gave up a lot sooner. About 8 hours in I was already sick of the deja vu, said "fuck this" and never picked it up again.
