One of my favorite racer style games, was Destruction Derby(PSX). It's pretty sweet, crashing into cars and strategically ramming them into the walls. I'm sure you can pick this game up for under $7.

Destruction Derby is great, the first sequel is great, and looks good today, barring the crowds. Also, I can't believe I forgot to give some Wipeout and especially Twisted Metal love in this thead. For the latter, the first two games, and TM: Black are great. For the former, the first three games are amazing, haven't played the fourth though.
