Everyone spouts off about games like Mario Sunshine and Metroid Prime, but what about titles like Ikaruga, Pro Rally, Rogue Squadron 2/3, Tiger Woods, Madden, Medal of Honor, Mario Golf, Mario Kart, Legends of Wrestling, Star Fox Adventures, Resident Evil (1 and 0), Skies of Arcadia, Billy Hatcher, Pac- Man VS, Wrestlemania XIX, NBA Street Vol.2 and SSX3. Sure some of these titles are on the other consoles as well, but that does'nt take away from the fact, that the Gamecube has a solid library of games. Comparing it to the Sega CD, is like comparing GBA to the Virtual Boy.
You forgot Wonder Dog, Eternal Champions, the Ecco remakes, Popful Mail, Earthworm Jim 2, Silpheed (back then, it was cool!), Mickey Mania, Willy Beamish, Monkey Island, Out of This World (+ HoTA), Prince of Persia, BC Racers, etc.Originally Posted by gamevet

I quite like the Gamecube but the list below reads like a sarcastic hate post. It's not an exceptional system by a long shot but this year I really enjoyed PN.03, F-Zero GX and Metroid Prime.

Never played Popful Mail either (It's supposed to be a good game though) +1, Earthworm Jim 2 was just the Genesis game with a CD sound track, besides the Saturn had the best version of that game. Silpheed was hardly a great shooter. The game was rather lame and was one of the first titles I had on my Sega CD, that I sold. Micky Mania +1, Monkey Island +1, Out of this world is the same game on the Genesis, they just added the CD sounds and a couple of cinemas. Prince of Persia was also available on the Genesis. Like most Genesis games brought over the the Sega CD, it was the same game with CD sound added. BC Racers was probably a good game back then, but I'm sure it's hardly playable now. I actually have the 32X version sitting in shrink wrap. Another victim in my pile of shame.
Still with these titles added to the list. I'd have to say that a Gamecube could/should provide a better playing experience, than a Sega CD.
*ahem*The Adventures of WILLY BEAMISH!?? (althought it and MI could be found on the PC, too...)
Yeah, I meant Earthworm Jim: Special Edition with the extra levels. You're right about the Saturn having the best version of EWJ2.
Ecco 2 had FMV scenes added. WHOOO!
Prince of Persia is best on the SNES (GORGEOUS and crazy extra levels), and I'd rather own the Sega CD version than the Genny one.
OK, the Sega CD isn't GREAT, but it's hardly the worst system around.
What about the Adventures of Batman and Robin? VROOM
And yeah, EC and Silpheed do suck ;_; but I own them... I guess they were better before.
EDIT: Dude, of course the GC is better. I was just being difficult.

Final Fight CD and Shining Force CD are fantastic. Crap system though.

I thought I'd take the time to list a few of those titles. It's not like if a person only owned a Gamecube, that they would'nt have enough games to play, to have a year's worth of fun with it.
Oop, forgot those, too.

XB has PGR2. Hence, the vote for that.
Aside from the ones Mzo mentioned, you could add:Originally Posted by gamevet

- Android Assault
- Lords of Thunder
- Road Avenger
..and a bunch others. The Sega CD version of EJ had a redbook soundtrack and more levels. The Saturn version was EJ2, not 1.
Who's comparing the Sega CD to the GC? All I said was that the Sega CD was a cool system for what it had.Everyone spouts off about games like Mario Sunshine and Metroid Prime, but what about titles like Ikaruga, Pro Rally, Rogue Squadron 2/3, Tiger Woods, Madden, Medal of Honor, Mario Golf, Mario Kart, Legends of Wrestling, Star Fox Adventures, Resident Evil (1 and 0), Skies of Arcadia, Billy Hatcher, Pac- Man VS, Wrestlemania XIX, NBA Street Vol.2 and SSX3. Funny how 10 of the 19 games you mentioned are on other systems though. I think the reason everyone mentions Sunshine and Metriod (Nintendo games) is because no one bought the GC for the 3rd party games.
Without Sega and Capcom I would never have given the GC a passing thought. Nintendo's finest is on GBA.Originally Posted by Melf

Do the people that voted GameCube own other systems? And did they NOTICE what was coming out on the other systems?
I can see not voting Xbox, or even PS2, but voting for GameCube over GBA is just criminal. And don't feed me that "I play my GBA games ON my GC ROFLMFAO *giggles*"
GBA rocked my face all year long. Gamecube didn't.
I own every system on that list and I voted for GameCube. I find myself going to it more than the other systems mostly because of the Wavebird. That thing is a work of genius.
GBA did have some great games this year, though...Metriod Fusion, Mario & Luigi, etc. I almost always play them on my GB player, though. With the Wavebird.
Right now I'm playing my Xbox a bunch thanks to KOTOR. My PS2 collected the most dust of all the systems this year.
My thoughts as well.Originally Posted by Sidez

Even though I spent the most time playing the PS2, and even though I had the most fun playing the PS2, I just can't vote for it because I hate the system with an irrational burning passion.Besides, outside of 1 serries of games from 1 company, I didn't play anything on the system anyway...
Either Cube or GBA. Can't decide.

I own every nearly every system made since 1977 except for the N-Gage, if that even counts, and I voted GC. I would've bought it if it had nothing but first party software, thats the same reason I bought my N64 and Snes. First party software for the Cube includes Metroid Prime, Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, Zelda WW, 1080 (If I buy a snowboarding game, it's gonna be one thats more realistic and that would be 1080), Eternal Darkness, Mario Kart DD, SSBM, Waverace, Doshin, Zelda Collection, thats a complete library right there.
PSN = knarlockk
Steam= kevinb150
Then Dreamcast is my system of the year becuase of Marvel vs. Capcom 2...Originally Posted by Captain Canuck

I'm pointing it out, because there is more to the Gamecube than just first party games, as some seem to think that is all that the GC has to offer. For a person that can only afford one system and a few games, this could be thier system of the year. It's not mine, but I would'nt get roude of my GC for another console either.
I voted for the GBA BTW.![]()
The Sonic Mega Collection is reason enough for the GC to be my system of the year. Such a fantastic compilation of classics.

I have a PS2 for the core releases, and a GC for the exclusives. The X-Box is a good system, I just am not really interested in many of its exclusive titles, so at its current price, I don't want one. The only games I've been really interested in are Panzer Dragoon Orta, Knights of the Old Republic, and Crimson Skies. Everything else to me looks like same-old-same-old-PC-esque-poser-nerd-bulsh.
But that's just me.

A collection of some of my favorite games ever, on one disc, with a full-screen, smooth version of the Sonic CD intro and ending. Good enough explanation?

Soundwave was comparing them, not me. My post was about how I think the Sega CD is a better system than people give it credit for. The fact that I own 4 times as many games for it has something to do with the Sega CD being almost 10 years older than the GC and that most of it's games can be had very cheap on ebay. That's why I play it more. Cheaper games = more games = more playtime. It had nothing to do with which system is better...but we're arguing semantics....

I tried to put everything into one complete post, but the new format does'nt attach to consecutive posts into one post. I'll have to pick up on how that is accomplished.Originally Posted by Melf

He was referring to EWJSE, but he did'nt say that. I completely forgot that the only EWJ on the Sega CD was EWJSE. It's been 10 years since I played the system, or rented EWJ for it. I sold my Sega CD about 10 years ago with titles like Snatcher..and the difference is? I was referring to EJSE. So were the both of you., Lunar, Vay, Prize Fighter, F-14 Tomcat, Dark Wizard, Thunder Hawk, Soul..(?), Dragon's Lair, Cobra Command, Sewer Shark and Sonic CD. I wish I still had the system, but have picked up a few titles on the cheap, with hopes of buying a CDX or another Sega Cd in the near future.
