It only sucked because you had to pay full price for a tech demo. It's still a good game... there is just not much of it.

A game that sucked is not a good game.

And really, it didn't even have the potential to be a good game. The gameplay system was just wretched and ill-conceived. I only have it in my collection because I'm dumb that way.

Do you have to know any Japanese to be able to play it?

You don't need to know any Japanese to play, but there is A LOT of story. Also, when unlocking the real ending and extra levels, you need to talk to certain people in order who will give you needed information to advance. This can be hard on your own, unless you get help over at the GameFAQs boards (OMG GAMEFAQS SUx!!!) like I did.

The game has lots of references towards Gunstar Heroes, including a song straight from the source!
