Thread: Top 10 anime of 2003

  1. Saturn Japan Top 10 anime of 2003

The guys I write for just put up our Best of 2003 issue. The stuff I voted for got outweighted by the other staffers who have different tastes than me, but at least some of my faves made it into the Top 10s there.

Anyways, I want to know all of your top anime picks for 2003. Please separate domestic and import releases

My Top 10 anime list (domestic) is...

    1- Fruits Basket
    2- Aura Battler Dunbine
    3- Colorful
    4- Interstella 5555
    5- Cat Soup
    6- Heat Guy J
    7- Read or Die
8- Voices of a Distant Star
    9- Master Keaton
    10- The Twelve Kingdoms

I'm only counting stuff that began release in 2003 (except for Fruits Basket, because that was mainly a 2003 show and I didn't get to see it until mid-2003 anyway).

Props to fantastic shows that ended in 2003 like: FLCL, Berserk, His and Her Circumstances, GTO, etc..

Looking like 2004 picks are: Last Exile and Infinite Ryvius.

  2. No mention of Witch Hunter Robin? I oughtta kick you in your pee-pee.

    How is Master Keaton?

Witch Hunter Robin didn't have enough volumes released in 2003 to make the cut. Besides, I see that as a show that will get better with each volume (and make the list in 2004).

As for Master Keaton, my review should help you It's a quick read, so... read it !!

  4. The Twelve Kingdoms is quickly becoming an all-time favorite of mine. For all of you who have overlooked the series, make haste to your anime vendor and buy volumes 1 through 5.

  5. I don't know how well this follows your format of which year titles belong in, but I know these all had DVDs released in 2003, so whatever. My list...

    1. Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi
    2. Cowboy Bebop Movie
    3. Haibane-Renmei

    5. Witch Hunter Robin
    6. Full Metal Panic
    7. Read or Die
    8. Kai Doh Maru
    9. Voices of a Distant Star
    10. Infinite Ryvius

I want to find something in that list to mock so I can make a spectacle of you... but I like all of that...
I'm too tired to (finally) make a list. I'll do it tomorrow.

    Also in not particular order:

    Scryed
    ZOE Dolores, i
Dai-Guard (though technically it started 2002)
    Rune Soldier
    Read or Die
    Full Metal Panic
    Visions of a Distant Star
Figure 17 (not sure if it started in 2003 or 2004)

I think that's it. For now I can't even make it to 10.
Taking it one day at a time.

  9. I don't keep up on anime much so some of these could be old but I watched them all for the first time in 2003. And I don't think I watched 10 new ones but here's what I dug that I can still remember.

    In no order...

    FLCL
    Hellsing
    Love Hina
    Kenshin
    Animatrix
    Lupin III (tv series)
    Grappler Baki (the second series)
    Ninja Scroll (the tv series)
Currently Playing: Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster (PC), Let's Build a Zoo (PC) & Despot's Game (PC)
