Thread: GarageBand

  1. GarageBand

Another part of the Apple keynote: GarageBand

Shit, I want a Mac even more now.

  2. #2
    Fuck it.

Nothing there you can't do with other programs, for less.

Move along... nothing to see here.

  3. Well, unless you count the cost of the computer, I guess.

But if you already have one... GarageBand is part of iLife. And what is iLife, like $50?

Youre paying like $9 for this program. That's pretty wicked.

CakeWalk Home Studio is like $130.

  4. That shit is gay dude. Its like Acid Pro but fancy looking.

  5. But at $9.00 it be fun to dork around with.

  6. Acid Pro is what, $200.

I dunno, I dont see what the problem is with a program that is "like" Acid Pro, but looks fancier, and costs 1/20th of the price. I dont see it.

And shit, I bet it has more than 5% of the features of Acid Pro, which makes it, gasp, a good deal.

  7. Yeah when you put it that way. Plus a good sound card minimum like $100, thats is pretty good.

  8. Avast ye! Payin fer softwares are we? Well pay no more with me 5 step scallywagin' program. In five simple steps I'll have ye hijackin' on the 'net like the scummy highwayman you are. Ahoy!
    o_O

  9. What you need for a good recording, even before you get to the software (in decending order of importance):

Good talent (musician and recording engineer). But you knew that already.

Good instrument. If the instrument sounds mediocre, you're fucked.

Good room. I can't stress this enough. The space you record in is everything. Move into every differnt room in your house, move furniture in and out of rooms, spend $60 to rent a place with two story celings. You need a great room.

The microphone. Yes, it ranks under all that stuff.

    The mic pre-amp.

    The analouge to digital converter.

The software. Are you still psyched that the software only costs $50? Without everything above, the software isn't worth a damn.

Honestly, and I'm not making this up. If you get a great musician and a great recording engineer, put them in an amazing recording room with a decent mic, and give them a Tascam 4 track to record on, you'll still hear some stuff worth listening to. There is just so much that has to go right before the recording medium (software) is even a factor.

  10. And forgiv e my arrogent tone above, I'm compleatly wasted right now and can't be bothered with social skills.

Woo hoo for not editing the post above and making another post instead.
