Thread: I can't feel my fingers

  1. I can't feel my fingers

I'm a bit more serious then it sounds, 2 out of the 5 fingers on my right hand are a bit numb after a few days. I worked outside all week in -40C weather with soso gloves.

It's not the whole finger, just near wherever my nails are it feels numb. Kinda like i taped a rock underneath my fingers while typing. I dont think its nerve damage or something too serious because its gotten a bit better since the weekend started.... It's weird cuz ive never had little feeling in something after being out in the cold for long periods...starting to freak me out.

This problem kept me from posting a litle bit. Anyone got any thoughts or experience in gettin' their arse frozen?

Living in NE is knowing what being frozen is.

If you wanna clear that up, run your hands under cool water (hot will burn them, seriously), or play a few rounds of Pop'n Music. I recommend the Hell courses for warming fingers.
    (No pun intended)

Oh yeah, your fingers would turn black if you had frostbite...

  3. sounds like a good idea, but ive been like this for a few days now. My last day working outside was Friday, so i guess it'll take a little while. Gonna work this week one last time before College starts and if theyres no change then maybe i should consult a doctor

  4. I say, if your finger isnt better by the 5th day or so, I suggest going to the doctors and get it checked out.

I never had anything like that happen to me. Only thing I felt recently was leaving my house and going to my car. Within that couple of seconds, my hands were frozen already. No heat in the car as I started it as the car wasnt even warmed up (no remote start for my hoopty). I drove to my temp site for 1 day at the mall and that took 25 mins to get there. Within that 25 mins, my hands were still frozen even with the heat on.

A couple days ago, I went from my security booth at Coke and walked to get some drinks, as I was walking back, my hands turned redish/white and started to feel numb. 5-10 mins later, I started to get feeling back.

You might want to check with one... to make sure there isn't any nerve damage.

  6. good idea. I'll check in the morning. On the good side its kinda cool. Was with a friend downtown the other day and i slammed my fingers on a door and freaked her out. She didnt speak to me for a good 10 minutes

  7. might be a mild case of frost bite. Means your nerves are fucked. Basically like if you stuck your hand in fire for a bit, although fire registers in the brain more readily as a hazard to the body.

  8. pretty sure this is what i have. I'm not blistering or any of that crap you get with symptoms. Just a bit numb and hard on the end of my fingers. Is this permanent?

  9. Frostnip, dude. Seriously. Check out WebMD.

  10. I cut the tip off one of my fingers, I still don't have 100% feeling back but its better than what I had before.
