Inverted
Not Inverted
Initially, I used to play non-inverted on first-person shooters. However, I've always used inverted for flight-based games (such as Crimson Skies as graciously mentioned throughout this thread). I also use inverted controls for all FPS games, I can't imagine using anything else.

inverted for everything except for rez, panzer dragoon, and similar on-rails shooters. strange, i know.
yeah it is sort of lame, but it's cool to read what game made people prefer the way that they do.Originally Posted by Zerodash
I used to use inverted for PC FPS games, probably because I started my PC gaming career with Descent I and II. When I started seriously playing Quake, I made the effort to switch to non-inverted after being advised by better players. Once I made the switch completely, my aim was quite a bit better.
Non-inverted is just so much more intuitive. I mean does anyone invert their mouse to use in Windows? If I want to shoot someone below and to the right of me, I move my mouse down and to the right. I don't understand all the inverted love. Just listen to the name: inverted; it's obviously for queers.
Inverted for plane based games. Non inverted for anythign with a cursor/crosshairs. Everything else can go either way.
Oddly enough, I need inverted for Consoles and "normal" for Pc.
When it comes to FPS' and 3rd person shooters I always go non-inverted. When I press up, I want my crosshairs to go up, not down. I don't see how people can use this in fps games, since to me, when I use a mouse in a game its the same as using the mouse on my desktop, I move my mouse (crosshairs) exactly where I want it to go. I argue this with my brother all the time, who complains when I set it to this, his argument is that when people want to look up, they crane their heads back, not foward. Bah.
Yet the only time I go inverted is when I'm playing a flying game, it feels weird controlling a ship any other way.
I will end this argument here and now.
The first FPS where you could look up and down was Dark Forces. PgUp made you look down, PgDn made you look up. Inverse from the beginning, inverse forever.
HA! HA! I AM USING THE INTERNET!!1
My Backloggery
System Shock is older than Dark Forces, if it counts as an FPS.
