problem with my moded PS2...

I just bought a PAL moded silver PS2. All region games play fine on it, but i have a small problem with PS1(US/Japan) games. Everytime i run PS1 games on it, i get a black thick bar at the bottom(1 forth of the screen), and the top quarter of the game is hidden. is this normal when playing PS1 games on moded PS2s?

the only way to fix it would we to center the screen through the options, but then again not many PS1 games give you that option.


is there any other way?

sounds like a PAL problem, but i don't really know enough about the format to be sure.

how about us/japan ps2 games?

It sounds like punishment for taking a beautiful silver PS2 and turning it into a PAL freak to me.

problem solved guys, i took it back to the store and the guy gave me a black U.S PS2(newest series), then he swaped the silver casing. Everything works fine and im a happy camper!

btw, does Sony make silver import PS2 memory cards?
