Thread: GI Joe Movie

  1. YOU DON'T KNOW ME

  2. NO YOU FUCK OFF

Home now...just a few more thoughts.

The movie fucked up the look of GI Joe, but the characters weren't completely generic look-a-likes like I thought they would be based on trailers, pics, etc. Still would have liked it to be more loyal in that respect, however, but they got some of the little basics right. Baroness wore black leather and glasses, Scarlett was a redhead with a crossbow, Snake-Eyes was a silent ninja in black (he took a VOW of silence when his master was murdered? LOL), Storm Shadow was a ninja in white, The Pit...considering how Hollywood constantly rapes our memories, we're lucky they even got THAT shit right.

Also, despite taking huge liberties with the look and storylines, the movie DID feel like GI Joe in the basest sense. I mean, they had GI Joe and Cobra fighting each other with high-tech weapons and gadgets all over the world. That's GI Joe in a nutshell. To purists it was almost unrecognizable, yeah, but if you took a person that knew nothing whatsoever of GI Joe, had them casually flip through a few issues of the comic, and then showed them the movie, they'd probably swear it was a perfect translation.

And I'm shocked. Marlin Wayans wasn't NEARLY as annoying as I thought he'd be. He was actually a bit reserved. I still can't stand him and him minstrel act, however.

Like I said, soild but brainless and forgettable.

  3. Just like the Wolverine. The Video Game is better than the movie its based on. Believe.
MechDeus - Nick is the Bruce Wayne to Yoshi's Jean-Paul Valley.

  4. I rented the game, and the first level has:

    - a shitload of classic Joes like Stalker, Dial Tone, Breaker, Wild Bill, and Tunnel Rat
    - you driving the Snowcat after getting intel from Snow Job
    - Accelerator suits only as a special attack, but it at least has them yell "YO JOE!" and plays the classic TV theme as you use them.

All in all, the first level alone is about 500 times better than the movie so far.

  5. Melf did you unlock classic uniform Duke and Scarlett?

  6. I love how, out of everything, the writer made the most effort to akwardly shoehorn in all the primary catchphrases: Kung-Fu Grip, Knowing is Half the Battle, Yo Joe, Real American Hero, etc. Whatever.

  7. Not yet. I've only played through to the end of the first mission (wife had me clean all the fans in the house. I want to play!), but I did unlock Snake Eyes' secret mission. I'm really liking the game so far. Straight up run-'n-gun action that actually is G.I. Joe. Once I unlock the classic costumes it'll be even better.

Oh, and no Wayans yet! That's a big plus!

In the game, Stalker mentions how the bad guys still have intel on all the armament sold to the Joes and how it was good to know. Tunnel Rat says that knowing is half the battle, and Stalker replies "I can't believe you even went there." Lol.

  8. What version are you playing? 360?

  9. YOu can get the classic uniforms now. At the title screen enter ...

    Scarlett:
    right, up, down, down, y

    Duke:

left, up, X, up, right, y

You'll hear ..."YOOOOO, JOE!" to confirm its entered. Then start the game, save and it will be on the team roster.
