Get a better upscaler dood. My Sony receiver/dvd changer looks fantastic through HDMI. It also has to do with your TV as well. My old CRT HDTV with my old system looked poo poo, got the new tv, same system, a little better, new tv, new system JAMTASTIC.

Benefit for BRD would be having all that shit on 4 discs instead of 17.
